"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I guess no one is reading my post about UAAP HS with Collins Akowe playing for NUNS
Philippine Malditas to FIFA Womens World Cup 2023

Well, Prince Carino's athleticism may improve significantly when he reaches late teens to early 20's. I remember when Kai was around 17 years old, kailangan muna nyang magbwelo to dunk the ball. But now, Kai can easily dunk the ball with two hands effortlessly. Also, Kevin Quiambao seems to have improved his leaping ability in the last 2 years or so. That's the wonder of sports science. There are workouts & training regimen to improve quickness/agility & leaping ability.

Of course we can't expect Carino to become as athletic as Kobe Paras, or Francis Lopez or AJ Edu

I've seen a 6'5 15 y/o Tamayo playing against a 6'7 Baltazar. Both Carino and Tamayo almost have the same skillset at those ages. I think Tamayo was a little bit quicker but Carino is more fluid with less effort in making his moves. I hope he grows a couple more inches.

I remember when Rayray Parks was around 14 yrs old, he was already said to be 6-foot-3, which means he hardly grew since then.

Same with Kobe Demasana, already 6'8 at 15,managed to grow just 6'9,just normal Pinoy growth,Carino back in U16 also 6'8 grown just another inch,KQ was 6'5 during his BG days, never grown another inch,so unless you're Quinito Henson who thinks that Kai will grow to 7'4-7'5 all the way until his 21,this guys I believed are just normal growing Pinoys who happens to be taller than the average Pinoy.I still remember when Marlo Aquino's son who was 15 at the time,he was already 6'9 and everyone was projecting to reach 7'0,he doesn't have giantism or acromegaly he just normally stopped growing at 15.

                  • pinoy genes usually mean growth spurt from 12-15 years old for boys, then usually stop growing at 16. maybe grow another half inch until they're 18. meanwhile our girls stop growing at 14

This also applies to Pinoys with above average tall genes, majority stopped growing between 15-16,maybe less than 5% up to 17,beyond that would be an anomaly beyond normal as they say.

For the upcoming games I'm curious to see if our forwards have become modernized or are close to it, especially KQ and Tamayo. Modern forwards is the biggest hole we have in competing with teams outside of Asia, or just Korea and Japan in the region. Also hoping that Mason Amos could be a suitable plug for poor injury-prone AJ, hope Amos could become our sort of Al Horford.
Hopefully we see more of our best 6'6"-6'8" bigs becoming tweeners, or the modern forwards you're speaking of. It helps them have a better chance in Gilas, and also may also help them find a bigger role in the pros, whether the PBA (especially with bigger imports) and overseas.

I also hope some of these modern forwards can help defensively as well, like defending the interior, being versatile, something like that.

Maybe he needs a side chick to produce boys.

                            • I think it's about high time that the NF of the Sports must collaborate with individuals or group of individuals

who are really into skills training specifically on the grassroot level

Sir Metta already posted his take on this to other thread and I totally agree on it

because as I said, realistically, not all kids had the privilege to hire private individuals to assist them on extra things

as I said it's all about collaboration from the above I've mentioned.

but also collaboration between parents, guardians, handlers, schools and some private entities

like Nestle Philippines a multinational company whose flagship product "Milo" are already part of every Filipinos since time immemorial.

Talent discovery and identification nowadays specifically to "those kids with gifted height" are ain't that challenging no more because of socmeds

I think one of the many challenges that besets this kind of settings is the old adage

"Ako ang nag saing pero iba na ang kumain"

I think the line of thinking of the SBP top levels are ain't that way

otherwise Pilipinas Basketball may not reach it's full potential moving forward because "your holding back on something".

we have to keep in mind "That there's a lot of best "Win-Win practices out there that is beneficial on all parties and this idea of mine

is just a very small piece of grain in the vast shoreline of sands.

                              • so the breaking news about QMB's before 16 passport.

well I do hope that it ain't the "kuryente thing" on the part of Spin.ph

remember the last time they've posted about Mike Philips before 16 passport as well

I'm an avid reader and fan of that portal but at the same time but at the same time

I must be on my toe most of the time.."being discreet is the best policy out there".

hmmm...recently Grandpa Chualay was appointed as the Team Manager of the program

wether we agreed on him on many things or not, everyone are entitled on his/her opinion

for as long as it is within the boundary.

well, as per thread, I do hope the puzzle of AK34, Kamaka Hepa and Mike Philips would be next.
