Sorry but I need to post this, my momentum is getting there.

GMA is ONLY known for their showbiz stuff, low-level telenovela/k-drama and news programming that's there bread n butter but as far as promoting sporting events and programming forget they are horrible. in fact even during interview on athletes they tend to ask questions about lovelife and other low level things like what is your favorite color, foods and motto in life..what the @@#$% seriously??? parang slum book lang ang peg..I used to do this during my elementary and HS days when many of my girls classmates and from the other sections gave me there scented and colorful notebooks just to answer something inside those spiral notebooks.
I see your point and it's funny how you put it.

Yes, they're going with what they know, it's what good businesses do. And in their case, they know showbiz. But, if they really want to go that route, they would be very much more successful if the ncaa has players like Ricci, Cansino, or Dwight. Those types are the perfect blend of basketball and showbiz. Those type of guys will choose uaap over ncaa.

Once they realize that vital problem, they will realize that the league has to improve "basketball-wise" first.

My old man and his retired friends always had fond memories about the league during their heydays in the 70's and 80's where the old RMSC used to host several classic games...legends like the Skywalker, Lim Eng Beng, Dondon Ampalayo and Danny Florencio are their favorite basketball heroes..until know they haven't figure it out why a 5'9 or 5'10 Samboy can literally walks in the air towards the basket and Danny Florencio's degree of difficulty when he jumps underneath the basket, the so-called dead spot but still scores anyway and the very famous rambulan sa recto and avenida between students of the opposite schools...oh dear!! student at that time are like cavemen...old-timers like Sir Dotch and company can also share something about why NC was very very famous back then.

Anyway, I hope S100 can bring back some innovations because the game keeps on evolving..those grandpa of the league must accept that change is inevitable.

I am just saying looking at B.league, having no opportunities for Centers will not bold well for them in the long run.

Even coming up Akira Jacobs and Yuto kawashima for Japan are 6'8 center size for Asia but play more like forwards. Even from Korea, Yeo Jeon Seok 6'8 but more of a forward than a big. There are no local 6'8 players coming up that are like them. for Korea if I look at young centers coming up there is realistically only one that is Asian level potential and that Yungi ha.

I think we should be going with the Japan and SoKor track when it comes to bigs. Train our best 6'6"-6'8" players, even 6'9" ones, to play the PF position instead of confining them to center. More players like Carl Tamayo, Justine Baltazar, and Mason Amos locally. Kawashima, Jacobs, and Yeo Jun-seok are good templates.

We don't have many 6'9" and above players that we can stick to the center spot. Compensate by training them as tweeners at the very least.

Standout tall HS and College players should be sponsored and sent to college overseas, where they have to play against players of their size, equal to their skills and height on their position.

          • Guys, where are tall young players like Jimly Lantaya, Ladis Lepalam & Ramon Salvoro are right now & how are their development?

Those guys were featured in this thread a few years ago.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

They were raw as heck a few years ago. Salvoro looked like he has gigantism. I wouldn't be surprised if stopped playing basketball all together.

This is another thing that sports writers and fans don't understand,if you're still growing into your 20s,you have a health problem, even Kai stopped growing at 17 which is normal, regardless of what Quinito Henson say,he who thinks Kai might be 7'5

                • I’ve been monitoring sometime now the kid’s progress and so far there’s a lot improvement. I hope whoever responsible in the Skills Training Dept. of Uste should include cross-training program to improve the kid’s Core Component maybe add some volleyball and football workout.

Id advise to chill out on really young prospects unless you are personally involved at that level. Let them be kids.

They can train all they want. Just because someone is tall doesn't mean they will succeed. Most of them wont tbh. Putting less pressure on these kids is probably whats best.

How can you find it if they don't try?... that's why they have to train while they are still young.... those the one I mentioned already playing basketball in MPBLjrs ,NBL YOUTH and PBA Juniors...

Let the coaches handle that. No need to overhype kids as young as 12(Escomchi). What does that do other than add unnecessary expectations? Let them be kids.
