They still have AK,and down the line I'm guessing Laput,is the next best thing.

laput isnt gilas eligible. geo chiu is. so Kai, AJ, and Geo (with Ange) will hold the fort until those u16 tall kids (including the PBA kids RDO's, Sharma, and JR Reyes) grow up and hopefully 2-3 of them pans out well.

I think the best 16U prospect would be Owen Calanasan. He has the potential to be an Isaac Go type of big man.

Also, don't forget 6'9 Kobe Demisana who is still around 18 years old.

calanasan and that fil chinese kid. so yeah, them plus the PBA kids.

to be honest demisana, gagante, pablo, and basti reyes are all in a weird age group. they are a few years young than Kai and AJ. so they need to either play better than those 2, or be available if either is not, to get a spot. and the thing is, they are already playing more like wings already. the weird thing there, is the filfors of same age are mostly wings (bayla, harris, jones). its not necessarily bad, but like i said, kinda weird spot for them

I see it down the line,an exception someday,a couple of UAAP players will soon go up the PBA,Geo is ok for now at the SEA level,Balti will somehow wil find his way back to Gilas.

gonna sound odd but maybe a special conference where maybe an Ateneo team and or college players can join pro teams for that conference alone, having UAAP NCAA teams in the PBA will def generate alot more interest in the league

If we're talking about immediate backups, there's Chiu and Carino. But they have to up their games a couple of notches to be serviceable. Next in line are Demisana and Gagate but most likely not in the next 3 - 4 years as they are only in their late teens and depending on their improvement.

It will be good for UAAP big men to actually play with players of their height or taller,I'm hoping more UAAP and NCAA teams go overseas to play and possibly recruit too.

                    • What’s the deal with this kid? His competition doesn’t look strong but with his size and build he’s got potential to be decent big man

Kid went viral during the pandemic while having his vaccine, back then he was 17 and mesured at 6"8. Hopefully Chualay and UST can develop this kid into a serviceable big ala Geo Chiu

Now he's 6'10 at 18? He's having a pretty late growth spurt. Well JF also had a late growth spurt IRC.

let's see if Chualay and UST can develop him into a decent big

He still looks raw and at his size, he should already be playing up and scrimmaging with much older ballers.

Or taller and bigger players, its hard to say if he's a good playing big man, when he's playing pretty much against midgets instead of guys closer to his size.
