Kenneth Lofton Jr., we have players this size. Why not (at least approximate) his skills?

This reminds me how ping and junmar played in the WC. Post plays, power plays, plays below the rim. A big FU to modern basketball.

And play his position. He's listed as a forward as per FIBA. Low-post PF's still exist, and we can replicate that, especially given that we have bigs who are 6'7", like Lofton.

About replicating his play style, well the thing is, our bigs aren't really being given the ball in the post. Screen, rebound, wait for the pass inside, that's where our bigs end up. Give our 6'7" bigs the opportunity to play in the post as a PF (which will usually only happen if they play alongside a taller player, usually an import), then watch them go to work if we feed them.

Who knows if chot or tab went more to the post then we wouldve won some of those games.

Tab went to Kouame in the post a little in our past 5 games. But, yeah, he could call more plays for him and Kai, even Baltazar and Tamayo. All of the aforementioned can score on the block. Like I said, our bigs are our biggest advantage. We have to use them as much as possible, whether as scorers or simply as threats.

As for Chot, well, too guard-oriented. His offense didn't give a lot of room for low-post plays. Nasayang tuloy si June Mar.

I'm just thinking maybe if our point guards that played in the 3rd window & the OQT are the types which are good "feeders" of the bigs (point guards like Kiefer, Matt Nieto & perhaps Dalph Panopio), Kai & Kouame might probably had better scoring opportunities.
"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Baltazar I think is a post player but he doesn't weigh 280 or whatever Lofton Jr weighs. Lofton is big so he can back down guys in the post. Are there any local bigs his size built like him that can move as well for their size?

                • i actually like baltazar's gilas position. being able to shoot 3s and defend the perimeter makes him a valuable 3&D player. if the opponents decide to throw a smaller defender at him he can take them to the low post, bonus na lang him being a good shot blocker/help defender. reminds me of alvin patrimonio playing as a wing in the rp centennial team. against ncaa div1 teams they often put a guard to defend him and he will just school the college kids in the low post.

back to baltazar, he'll be fine as a wing even if he doesn't develop ball-handling skills, just continue to improve his current skill set. kinda like a poor man's trevor ariza.

That's another thing, you can't execute a good low post without, the guard making that timely pass down low, really badly need taller pass oriented PGs.

He's in Letran. Not very likely that he's lent.

all the Gilas invitees are main players of their team. has Jeremiah been a main player of any of the college teams he joined in? or was he even team A on any of them? lets start with that...

Right. Pangalangan belongs to the "lampa" group of bigmen. Not much skills to show off. I even doubt if he's really a legit 7 foot. Probably just 6'10 max. With that in mind you have Geo Chiu or Carino to consider first. Both around 6'8 but more skilled than Jeremiah.

The closest we have is 6'5" Belga. Hahahahahahahaha.

                              Larry Muyang is another prospect

The only way for most of our bigs to be productive in the post is if they play the 4. We have plenty of 6'7"-6'8" bigs now. Least we can do is make them play as a low-post 4 (which has little difference from the 5) so they can succeed in the post in the international scene.
