"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Originally posted by IPC View PostEven when FSA's were allowed, I think Arellano didn't have an FSA. Arana was a center for Arellano from the get-go, being the tallest in that team. Being the tallest in a Pinoy team, he gets parked in the middle. Shame he can't develop into a small-ball 4 in the NCAA without the FSA's.
Hay, nako. Our local 6'6"-6'8" bigs have to be trained to play alongside FSA's as a forward. Thing is, even if those local bigs have the ability to play alongside FSA's, coaches usually play them behind the FSA.
Maybe by training in the pros or seniors or allowing fsa in high school but something needs to happen as well for high school

Since there is no fsa, taller players are automatically relegated to Center position and that’s 4-5 years from ages of 14-19 playing Center during crucial development years where a player is still figuring out and developing into what kind of player they are\will be. I think once they come to college they already have a position they are already trending towards, they are recruited from high school playing that position. The development playing other positions needs to come earlier.

Hopefully coaches train their centers here to play more like Chris Bosh or AD (versatile, can drive and shoot, mobile) than say, Zaza Pachulia (good paint defender and rebounder, solid midrange that's it)

draftexpress A message from @mikeschmitzscouting to the young big men out there: Study the nuances of elite pick-and-roll defenders as much as you study dominant offensive players
That Loyola Chicago win is a great example of why every NBA team is looking for bigs who can switch/guard PnR. It’s almost impossible to stay on the floor in the NBA if you can’t defend a ball screen. One of the big reasons why Evan Mobley projects so well at the next level.

Here in interbasket height is always the debate. kahit konti lang ang difference..hehehe

I'd assume he'd have the same role in Gilas.Originally posted by IshmaelM View Post6'8 with good mobility the kid has potential. It seems with Balti, Tamayo and Ong, Gilas's pipeline for a big wing is set.Originally posted by TheRodster21 View PostTbh I don’t think he has the athleticism\mobility of a true wing but I think he can be in the mold of Tamayo or Balti, mobile versatile 4 or 5

Now we are getting some true small-ball bigs who compensate for their lack of size with versatility. What's more, these guys can play PF, which is what I want from our young 6'6"-6'8" bigs. They have the size and mobility for the position. Hoping for more in the future.
