Tamayo can be better than Baltazar in 1- 2 years. He has better shooting and handles.

        • GILAS YOUNG BIGS RANKINGS

          1.. Kai - Obviously

          2. AJ - He had an argument Vs Kai when AJ is not hurt by injuries

          3. Kouame

          4. Baltazar

          5. Tamayo

          6. Quiambao (can we consider him Big?)

PS: I WANT TO INCLUDE MASON AMOS. BUT IF PHILIPPINES WILL MAKE HIM A CENTER AT 6'6> WE SUCK. HE IS SF OR MODERN PF AT WORST

Realistically, Quiambao (along with Baltazar and Tamayo) will be a tweener forward playing the 4 at best, which is actually a good outcome, and as I say, should be the general rule for all bigs their size.

Im actually afraid for the development of most Batang Gilas. This is a crucial time developmentally and they havent played basketball for a long time.

                  • The type of big men we should have since we love dominant centers is like Aron Baynes.

The guy is big, strong, can shoot, and so is capable of playing the 4/5 positions effectively.

Honestly never understood why Leo Austria forced Junemar to be an outdated dominant big when he can be more than that.
                    GILAS WISHLIST:
                    6'8 Pingris

I mean it resulted to 6x MVP and Multiple Championships for SMB.

So, obviously they didn't feel the need to change things up.

It is like saying why Shaq is forced to be a one dimensional postup player, even if he can be more than that.

If you are winning, you will not feel the need to change.

"Why fixed if it is not broken". That will probably be in the mind of Coach Leo.

Until Junmar Postup game doesnt prpduce wins and championships anymore, his postup game will be still the same, because as you said HE IS DOMINANT in that area

Yeah. We value strength over versatility right now, even if it's just to guard guys like June Mar. However, a big part of that is the spacing the other 4 provide for him. Tough combination to beat defensively.

The key is to beat them with offense. A versatile stretch big just has to do enough to make June Mar and the SMB zone unplayable. Keep shooting and scoring and moving the ball. We'll need to find a center who can score at least two 3's at at least a 36% clip.

This works in the PBA where the centers are 6'5. He could just overpower them

Yup. I like postup too. So, I will disagree to others that are saying completely erase it.

Our Best Player Kai is a Postup Player, Best Pba Player Junmar is also a Postup Player

Postup will be inefficient/efficient depending on who is doing it. And Kai and Junmar are both dominantly efficient in post.

But I get it. We need to develop also Mobile Bigs especially PF to Complement Them.

Besides AJ(injury prone) and Japeth(who gilas retired), we really dont have the Mobile 4 to play with.

As for Stretch Bigs, they are also needed as Role Players to space the floor

                              D. Seigle is your old school small forward but in modern day basketball, he's your perfect small ball 4.

Seigle's chink of the armour is his defense.
Seigle's actually my dream PF/C offensively (of course for bigs under 6'9"). Athletic and versatile.

Actually, in my opinion a 6'7" above low-post player will be OK, so long as he is skilled inside and out, and can play the 4 for an extended amount of time. Question is, apart from Tamayo and Baltazar, who else do we have?
