Well you can survive in showbiz even if you're a bad actor. Basketball in the Philippines is much more competitive. You won't go far if you're just tall and athletic. Kobe might have enjoyed those advantages when he was playing against players in his age bracket but that's no longer the case in collegiate and senior ball.

It's really hard to asses or rank a player when he's hardly played in the last 2 years. After his freshman year. (got injured in 1st min of WC fiba games) .
So he being better is really more like saying he would have been better. Don't get me wrong i'm AJ's fan but you need a minimum amount of playing time in recent years ( last 2 years) to even be in the conversation of being ranked.
In simpler terms there is greater optimism on Kouame being an integral part of Gilas than there is AJ, as AJ really is a question mark currently, ( nothing to do with his potential ability and his mindset. it's just a thing with injuries.
