if rice can score 50pts on NBDL, how much more on PBA? NBDL have bigger and stronger players who can defend Rice.. but still, he is almost unstoppable.. his shooting is freak.. IDOL! haha.. the bad thing about his contract with purefoods is that if an NBA team recalls him, purefoods can't do anything but let rice... good thing, it's almost playoffs, no team wants to shake their rosters anymore.. im just wondering how purefoods gets his services with just $20,000.. haha.. under the table.. of all the imports, keep and turner didn't impress me.. if turner plays the same always, it will be hard for them to win, but i always expect caguioa to the scoring chores.

GO Darius Rice. He is now my favorite Import this conference.

Impressive debut for Enrico Villanueva and Marc Pingris. Villanueva was a factor all game long, defending Jameel Watkins and grabbing crucial rebounds. Villanueva's 14 pts and 12 rebs were big considering Kerby Raymundo was struggling last night.

This is why Purefoods got him. In the last All-Filipino Cup Finals, Raymundo was incosistent throughout the series and Purefoods felt that they needed another big man who could score in the paint.

Marc Pingris got 10 pts and 5 rebs last night but all of them came in the first half and was a non-factor in the second half.

As usual, James Yap and Dondon Hontiveros provided scoring among the locals.
              Sensational debut for Darius Rice.

Darius Rice will now be the yardstick from which all imports will be measured. While impressive imports this conference went on to score 20-30 points & grab 10-20 rebounds, Rice went out & scored 56 points on his PBA debut. He truly is, a SUPER IMPORT. He reminds me of those days when super imports like DEXTER SHOUSE, TONY HARRIS, etc. were in the league, easily scoring 40-50 points a night.

Rice should really perhaps be in the NBA. The way he plays he is showing he belongs there.

I'm quite excited to see Sta. Lucia play against Purefoods, it would once again be a great match-up.

I'm predicting coach Boyet Fernandez to give Kelly Williams the assignment of guarding Rice,..I believe that Williams will be able to give Rice some problems. After all, Kelly Williams had some experience in defending a go-to-guy, particularly during the Manila Invitationals when he was assigned to guard Fhadi El Khatib the Lebanese Tiger.

Coach Boyet should let Kelly contest Rice's 3 point shot while Wilson will give him problems if ever Rice chooses to penetrate.

                  Go SLR!

I'm not impressed at all with Darius Rice's game. He played well last night scoring 56pts but it's only the 1st game and he wasn't scouted yet by other teams. What he did was purely shoot the ball from 3pt range, that's it. If properly scouted then that kind of player can easily be neutralized and defended. Rice doesn't have on-court awareness and even doesn't know how to pass and find open teammates. This will be the problem Pfuds will face as the conference goes. All Pfuds did last night was playing one-on-one bball. tsk..tsk..tsk.. They were lucky to win against MBM. Marquin Chandler is way much better than Darius Rice, IMO.

Impressive Game last night.. 2OT, very intense game from start to finish... darius Rice finishing with 56 points, while Watkins with 23 and 18.. I hope all games in the PBA will be as intense as the game between Purefoods and Magnolia last night.

Darius Rice is truly an outside threat even in college, NBA and NBDL. But don't count him out yet in terms of ability. He's an agile 6'10" and he still has something to show for us. I think he can break Tony Harris record if he wanted to.

^Kind of like a Lamar Odom minus the passing skills don't you think? If he can duplicate again what he did against Magnolia after being scouted by other squads... I will believe that he is really a super import...

I think Ginebra's import is good and I think that he is the kind of player the team needs, but he is just too short... ginebra should get an import with same kind of game but a bit more taller
