That's a good point. But I think it could be a lift for this young kids to play with UAAP and NCAA cagers to let them know how to play in the collegiate ranks because they'll be in that point after a couple of years.

Kyle Pascual is going play for a JC close to his home but he might play for the RPYT this summer.

Hooptown edged the RPYT, 72-70, in the 2nd game.

I was wondering who would coach DLSU on the Nike Summer league? Coz I know that he's busy with the RPYT team.

Guys, Coach Jack's with Coach Franz and the rest of the RP Youth Team coaching staff in LA. It could either be Coach Tyrone or Coach Joey Sta. Maria. But I think they'd work hand in hand because I believe Coach Tyrone's the swingmen/tweener coach while Coach Joey's inclined on coaching our bigmen.

2 Fil-Am reinforcements for National Youth five due

Two foreign high school players with Filipino roots will beef up the Nokia Philippine Youth Team set to compete in the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (Seaba) youth tournament in Kuala Lumpur on May 1.

Canada’s Norbert Torres and Kyle Pascual of California have been tapped to join the under-18 squad after impressive performances during tryouts in the United States.

The two recruits are expected to arrive in Manila soon, team officials told the Philippine Daily Inquirer recently.

Torres is a versatile 6-foot-6 big man who averages five blocks a game for the Mother Teresa High School in Ontario, while Pascual is a brawny 6-foot-5 forward playing for Esperanza High School in Anaheim.

Mentored by De La Salle University’s multi-titled coach Franz Pumaren, the youth team will arrive Thursday after a two-week training at the renowned Joe Abunassar Impact Basketball in Carson City, California.

The squad also competed in tune-up games versus the Hooptown International Youth Basketball All-Stars, a group of varsity Fil-Am players that included Pascual.

Before leaving for the US, the youth team lost four games playing as a guest squad in the PBL.

Bannered by team captain Frank Golla of Ateneo de Manila University, La Salle Zobel’s Jed Manguera, University of the Philippines’ Mark Lopez and Joseph Marata, Xavier’s Gabriel Banal and Sacred Heart-Cagayan de Oro’s Philip Paredes, the squad will play four more matches in the amateur league starting April 10.

Great additions for our youth team. No surprise with Kyle Pascual's inclusion as Pumaren and SBP were impressed with this kid prior to the squad going to the states.

I agree. Good additions to the team. They will provide a decent inside presence. While they don't have that much height, the team looks taller across the board. Can't wait to see them play alongside Paredes, Golla and Jovet Mendoza. Kyle Pascual will be a big SF/PF and will help draw the defense to the perimeter. He and Paredes can alternate at that spot, with Torres, Golla, and Mendoza doing a center by committee.

BTW, where's Monachini? I thought Pumaren had him all but locked up.
                          Keep running, big boy.

I found a video of Norbert Torres. I follow Toronto high school basketball a little bit but I've never heard of him.

btw OFSAA the tournament his team is playing in, is the Ontario championship tournament, not sure where they finished.

im still hoping for atleast one pure shooter to open things up for our slashers and post players.
