We always found players who are range 5'8 to 6 footers, but we can't able to find taller than that... We have to convince 6'1 or above female athletes to choose basketball over volleyball... That is the big challenge for SBP, coach Pat and crew... Talent wise, we are near within Korean talents, but we are just shorter...

that is why I am not totally against having a semi-pro kind of womens basketball league for now if the full blown professional league are not yet feasible
making it a home and away format wherein teams will still carry the names of their respective schools and current line-up plus a few reinforcement including FSA's
GAB can provide special permits to those student athletes to maintain their respective eligibility(s).
certainly students and even alumni will rally on their respective schools and eventually fill the rafters
and when advertisers and prospective investors sees those crowds surely they will invest
and when that happens in a consistent basis when school-based teams fully establish the fan based
then forming a true blue professional basketball league for women are no brainer
this is the same timeline our Womens Volleyball League has done from the very humble beginning of Shakey's V-League, then PSL then eventually PVL
obviously, SBP should be the one who will handle this, in cooperation with his private counterpart like Cignal and One Sports for TV exposure plus
with PSC and POC's backing it up as well with full support from UAAP, NCAA, NAASCU among others and those from the Visayas and Mindanao schools as well
some wealthy LGU's can also pitch in as well esp to those who are into Sports Development
it can be done "ang mga barya barya pag pinagsama sama dumadami din yan".

This tournament can evolve to a bigger league like a PABL if it generates more interest from fans and sponsors.
exactly.
those schools had their own corporate sponsors so I don't think there would be some issue financially
with SBP and some LGU sponsoring a few teams
also they could invite some hafus as well with FilamNation as one of the participant.
it's all about proper marketing considering One Sports and Cignal are very much active on college sports.

we've already seen Sir Dotch's shared photos coming from one of the social media platform of FilamNation Select and I would say that it's competitive enough to assemble a competitive womens
club team if ever they created a league of their own, the way it was arranged as per position and skillsets per player, I would say it is balance and talents are equally distributed per team.
now to complete the line-up per team, I think bringing in the core of the current UAAP, NCAA and other leagues plus their respective FSA.
man oh man!!
it can assemble a competitive womens club basketball team that we could parade even from international womens club competition.
therefore parity would not be an issue if ever our basketball stakeholders decided to put up a semi-pro league for the moment
and if ever they adopt the home and away format and make those school gyms as the "de-facto homecourt".
certainly, students will flock their respective gyms considering the core of some(propose) teams are composed of their respective varsity plus the FSA
now it will certainly creates a domino effect on the marketing side once those prospective sponsors sees people watching womens basketball on a consistent basis
well the rest will be history
as I said from my previous posted message "the template was strategically use by our volleyball stakeholders during those trying days of womens volleyball and adopting it to womens basketball
would not be that big of a challenge considering many Filipino basketball players including those hafus are also physically beautiful and athletically sexy including the communication skills.

It's wrong to assume the success of womens volleyball is easily replicated. Like I've been saying, it's a cultural thing...volleyball for girls, basketball for boys. As long as we don't fix that and spread kids into a multi-sport environment...there will never be enough athletes, fans and interest for viable pro leagues. Older people can't be fixed, but the younger generation can still be molded.
And the big elephant in the room, whether we admit it or not, majority of our country are old school sexist. It's no secret that when men watch men's basketball, they come to watch basketball. When women watch men's basketball, they come to watch the men. Who will watch womens basketball? Robert can't even watch a whole game and he's a diehard.
I also want pro leagues for more sports in our country, but I want them to be successful. We have to form a multi-sport youth culture which takes time. Sure we can keep putting up semi-pro and pro leagues, but it won't go anywhere unless the underlying problems get fixed first.

Imo, a women's football league has more potential. Many here probably have no idea that women's football in the HS and college levels has some of the most attractive players. Even more than volleyball players. It's the sport of choice especially for the mestizas and popular ladies from the provinces. There was a time when the rosters of dlsu and admu looked like Star Circle batches. It doesn't have the stigma of womens basketball and seen as cool by our local colegialas. Add to that the hafus from Europe and the US.
When it comes to marketable players, this sport has potential.

Local games are televised and major international tournaments have some popularity. And yet it's local league is still in purgatory.

yup that's true.
grassroot development is really a key on everything about sports to be successful
basically the main intention on those messages of mine is "more on a short term basis while the long term are still in progress".
perspective about "this sports are for men and this sports are for women thing" is really an onion and it is deeply rooted not only us Filipinos but also to other races
sometimes we felt it is a damn long road to traverse and we intend to be overwhelmed but if we continue building some blocks or let say baby steps for now
little did we know " oy!! malayo layo na rin pala ang ating nararating kahit paunti unti lang tayo sa umpisa".
patience is really one best virtue and it's really foolish to go full throttle if the foundation is not yet that sturdy.
that's the problem with our football team esp. after that so-called 2010 Miracle in Hanoi "biglang nag madali eh". esp. when investors started to pour in
grassroots development was half baked at that time until now, if only they mold the foundation at that time to make it sturdy, fast forward, maybe we are now consistently winning that Asean Cup for Men
as for our Mens Volleyball team, I really had a positive feeling that the program will be successful moving forward.
achieving that silver medal in 2019 SEAG is a good start and no thanks to the pandemic and somehow create a momentarily blip to the momentum
but hiring a solid Brazilian coach in our boys division and hiring those two word-class Italian coaches for Mens
and hosting the World FIVB Mens Volleyball tournament is a big momentum boast for our short and long term program
those windfalls of Billions is really a morale boasting moments to all sports loving Filipinos and hopefully the current and future PSC commissioner should really
emphasize on grassroot development while adding additional Olympic level facilities on all Regions will certainly produce Olympic and World Champions moving forward.

For some reason, videos of previous Star Olympics (early to mid-90s) has been popping up on my algorithm. It's the heyday of sportsfest for our celebrities when all of showbiz joined from superstars to kontrabida extras.
And what are the team sports with the most capable players, most fans and most interest...men's basketball and women's volleyball. I think that is the purest display of how those are the sports that has all the advantages in our country. When it came to the actresses, I don't think there would've been any other sport wherein they could come up with full rosters of capable players (and this was a time where all actresses joined the games). And how fans are engaged is also telling, it showed what sells in its rawest form.
Fast forward to now, and those 2 sports are still the only ones in celebrity sportsfests.
It's also a good case study. Most kids play sports to be cool, and these celebrities are pretty much the coolest in society. What sport they play is telling.

hahahahaha
I remember as a child during that time the news about Sen. Binoe and Cong Goma had a fist fight during a game
it was all over the news and it is very crazy at that time because we can't afford to watch my favorite anime shows due to that brouhahaha
then a recent, interview revealed that the two had also some actions in the Malacanang Palace ground bec. of they are the so-called "magkaribal" to the heart of the youngest yellow daughter.
anyway, enough of those low level showbiz thing
there's a very good news that a new state of the art sports stadium will arise in the heart of Bacoor, Cavite that they will call "The Villar Stadium"
it's a 30 ha. property that will cater Fifa level football matches, FIBA level basketball court, Olympic level Track and Field and Swimming Pool,
and other sports as well.
politically, I am not a fan of the clan because of what have they've done to the delayed LRT extension project(I'm biting my tongue) it's an open secret and it's on different news article and link
the propose structure had a collab with the former Azkal Manager Dan Palami and his partners like Misagh Bahagdoran his former player.
