Another one is Claire Castro, if we have a league, she might not retired yet and continue playing.. we badly needed height and she is one of them that we needed but she forced to retire quickly because there is nothing to gain more money from playing basketball... And also it affects the decision of young female athletes to choose their path what sport they will choose.. with PVL is in all time popularity today, our female athletes choosing volleyball as their preferred sport than any sport including basketball because it has secured future for their careers.. It affects the likes of Kai's sister and Arwind Santos' daughter decision to change sport because the money is in volleyball.. we have many players right now, from local and abroad, we should not wasted their opportunities.. Gilas program is not for all, having a league is a must to increase the pool of players playing basketball for women, and that is also part of grassroots what you want, Having a youth program, having a collegiate league like UAAP and NCAA and having a league for them after college.. with that, we can encourage female athletes, especially the taller athletes to play basketball, outside volleyball as their preferred choice of career and we can pick more players, especially taller players to our national team...
Really, you watched the whole games? Then give a detailed analyses, the surprises of the game, the key role players and the turning point of the games.

Yes, it was played by people but not as career choice, but the federation keep pushing and promote the sport, not until 2010s when the sport of volleyball is gaining popularity especially the arrival of Allysa Valdez.. She makes volleyball as female sport in the country and until now it keeps growing and rivaling basketball as the top sport in the country... All basketball federation needs is a guy who can popularize the sport just what Valdez did to volleyball.. I smell women's basketball will be as popular as volleyball in next 5-10 years, since we have already pipeline of players from youth program.. and some of them are charismatic too, since the new generation of fans today are not old school minded as before, back in the days, many telling if a girl playing basketball, sinasabihan na "TIBO/TOMBOY".. that was changed today.. today's society accepted men can play volleyball na di sinasabihan na "BAKLA" or women will play basketball na di sinasabihan na "TOMBOY"... Plus if our national team for women will achieve more positive results, maybe a semis appearance for FIBA Asia cup and qualifying for FIBA World cup for women in 2026.. I'm sure the popularity of womens basketball will skyrocket...
I answered this in page 160.

I will not give details since I'm not statistician.. actually inaabangan ko Sana si Favour Onoh because I just want to see if she is very good that sbp give her a naturalization slot, but she's out for this season due to injury... I just want womens basketball to grow.. we are supposed to be basketball nation, right? But in women's side, volleyball is queen sport for women..we could be more stronger team if we have more pool for women, especially taller women's side... Sayang yung kapatid ni Kai na babae.. she already start to play basketball, but because womens basketball has no professional career here, she shifted to volleyball that she think she has more career there... Kai's sister is already 6'3.. sayang yun...

I'm not asking for statistics...I'm asking for things that you can't see in highlights. Should not be hard if you really watched the whole games.

If you grew up in the Philippines (aside from Greece) you would know that volleyball has always been the undisputed team sport for females in the country. Basketball for boys, volleyball for girls. It has always had a cultural and grassroots advantage. Womens volleyball has always been ripe for the picking for a pro league.

I also want womens basketball (and all other sports) to grow...most especially for the youth. Because that is the key, you have to build these other sports from the ground up. Doing it from top to bottom is the usual get-rich quick and lazy way.

You don't need to watch whole games just be a legit fan of sport... You can support them by engagement, buy merchandise, etc... but what we should notice is that womens basketball here is already growing.. in the past, even updates what's going on in UAAP womens basketball is not really covered... We don't care at all.. now, we are curious how they fare in each other.. that's the start... Sayang, Favour Onoh is injured.. mas marami aabang dun because she will cover our weaknesses in the national team.. we are curious if she is good as advertised but she's injured, Kacey Dela Rosa, Claire Carin, Louana Ozar doing fine in their respective teams.. Now the concern here is their careers after college... Not all of them will be part of national team or can play overseas...This is many real basketball fans dreaming.. I'm sure if Gilas women team make it to the semis of FIBA Asia cup/ Asian games or qualifying to the 2026 world cup, the clamour of having atleast semi pro league for womens basketball will grow..

In other words you didn't really watch the games.

Only an idiot businessman will fund a league where the most rabid fans can't even sit through a whole game.

That's not idiot.. All businessman wants is to have a guy who will change the perspective of the sport, so that they will spend.. Just what womens volleyball within Allysa Valdez era.. or in WNBA today with Caitlin Clark.. now I'm sure I see two or three guys who will popularize the women basketball here.. All they need is opportunity.. whether you like it or not.. the only way to strengthen our national team and the grassroots of the sport is to have a professional league or atleast a semi pro league to elevate the sport..

Yes, I watch.. what's the problem? I support more women basketball team than men's side because I want same equality between both sides.. actually they have a chance to qualify to 2026 FIBA womens world cup if they have proper support...

his follow up question is who stood out during those games?

Yes.. I watched it.. I'm not just supporting only one or two category sports.. we should all support all sports especially those who have potential... What sideways do you mean? If Metta doesn't watched or doesn't like women's basketball then it's fine.. But he should know that his suggestion that Gilas women should copy what Gilas 1 batch did is not effective in international settings because it's too expensive.. and finding some pocket tourneys for women's side in basketball is hard to find aside of Jones cup... Then also training abroad is not that cheap... And lastly, with increasing numbers of women playing basketball, how about other who can't make it to the pool? Where they will play? If he wants grassroots then he should also support having atleast semi pro league for womens basketball, so that our players will continue playing and improve, so that one day if there is a problem within our team regarding to the availability or injuries, we can also tap some players within the league...

You have no idea what it takes and you're not even really comprehending all the suggestions I've been making. I've been involved with youth basketball for both boys and girls. One girl you guys will see pretty soon Dignadice, I've seen her train since she was 7 and now she has D1 offers. I've probably watched more live girls HS games than you have watched live games your entire life.

You can't even make simple statements to prove you didn't just watch the UAAP womens highlights.
