SGA has 4 former NBA players (Cousins, Blatche, Mccullough and Richardson) while Valientes got 1 (Thomas)

I don't think Valientes's budget is remotely close to SGA's. Probably less than half looking at the roster.

Well, less world imports or lesser caliber imports means more local exposure & opportunities. I want to see how college guys Nick Cabanero

Definitely! I wasnt saying it's a bad thing, just explaining the rationale behind the roster composition.

UST will be the winner here. The international pro experience that Padrigao and Cabanero obtains will carry over to their college play. Highly likely that they'll get good minutes.

In case this super soup up SGA team wins this tournament in Dubai, what do we as followers or supporters of Philippine basketball make out of it? Is there so much to celebrate on the possible success of a team representing the Philippines when that team is so loaded with world imports while the locals will only play very very minor roles?

TBH, I like the SGA team of last year becoz despite it was also loaded with world imports, locals like KQ & Jordan Heading played well & played major roles in the team.

They've won it before with not much fanfare coming home. SGA don't really play anywhere else and bank on OFW support. I just happened to like talking about them last year because unlike those years when they had guys like Malonzo and Thirdy, KQ became the absolute star of that squad despite having legit NBA guys like Roberson and Howard on the floor. This year's SGA team is loaded in all positions, I really don't see how guys like Koon and Pablo get a lot of minutes. Also, I really haven't seen Mikey Williams play for a while so it won't be a surprise if he plays behind Brickman.
