Is Manalili currently enrolled in any institution? Dunno how he can still study and play ligang labas all the time

Damn, QMB already with that asking-for-moon attitude? Won't work with Gilas that way.

Arejola is much younger than the players you mentioned. I think he was either batch 1997 or 1998 in Zobel. Jason Webb was 1991, Luigi Trillo was 1992, Sison Twins were batch 1993. Dino Aldeguer batch 1994 or 1995.

I don't think Jong Uichico was ever a coach for the Zobel basketball team.
Juno as coach makes sense. But no, Coach Uichico definitely was Zobel coach during the time of the guys I mentioned. This was also the time when strength, conditioning/athleticism training was first introduced to the Zobel basketball program (one of the first to do so in the country) courtesy of legendary football coach Hans Smit.

Dino A originally was 93 along with Luigi Trillo but ended up graduating HS several years later whom Arejola definitely overlapped with. Sison twins are 94.

        • Could it be QMB's agent who is asking too much? tsk tsk

            • QMB can ask for as much as he wants to be fair. Only in the philippines the player gets bashed for asking for more money.

In our culture we are more supportive of the billionaires compared to the us and eu when the team owners get bashed for not paying athletes more etc

Socialist vs Capitalist tendencies. Glorification of being humble/having just enough/poor (media a lot to be blamed). It's a way of conditioning people to be content and not revolt/ask for more.

I think I get it. Unlike most amateurs the Dubai tourney doesn't really do much for him. His Gilas eligibility is questionable so B league heritage import is not an option. He has a non-Filipino citizen parent, so KBL is out of the question. He at times carried his team to the UAAP championship, so the PBA no. 1 pick is already assured if he wants it. So basically the Dubai tourney should be financially profitable for him for it to be basically worth his time and the risk of injury

                  • I don't really have a problem with him asking too much, I am just worried that it would be a concern if it will be about playing for the national team (if he is indeed eligible). Hell, I think he really deserves a bag in professional setup. But him or his agent doing it again when the time comes for playing in the national team would be a problem. It would be just that moon scenario from that player in the Asian games again. We can also include JC's scenario of asking money to play for the NT, but he has an incomparable caliber compare to QMB, who might just be a backup to Kai and AJ in Gilas.

I get it too and im all for players getting the bag as well. He can be considered generational talent when he enters the pba so he should fetch whatever he demands. Just makes me wonder now how much UP 'paid' for his one and done season.

Well I never imagined he would play for UP considering he somewhat distanced himself from PH basketball in the past, it's probably a lot. Well at least that opened his eyes on how profitable playing basketball is in the Philippines. All of a sudden his "eligible" and very "interested" playing for us. Any day now he'll be endorsing Jollibee or declaring his love for adobo/sinigang or some other cringey stuff. It's only a matter of time till Sage follows his route

                            • Unfotunatey for QMB, he has to prove first that he is worth the money. He played well in the UAAP but unlike Fajardo, Sotto, Edu, and now Tamayo, QMB has not yet proven himself effective at the FIBA level. Of course, he has NCAA Div experience but FIBA is a different matter.
