I agree. Its the sign of the times. College recruitment nowadays, 80-90% is money related. Thats why alot of folks already scoff at these athletes whenever they say they went to this program since its their dream school. Being in a 3rd world country experiencing inflation every now and then makes the money matters even more pressing from athletes who are mostly breadwinners of their family. On the other hand schools/sponsors really do spend now for recruits to bolster their programs. So it does go both ways.

Speaking of us ncaa, would it be crazy if they ever adopt a transfer portal system akin to what the us ncaa has right now?

Some of these NCAA schools only have a 200 per day food allowance per player. If someone comes in and offers money they’d be selfish not to take it.

If recruitment becomes purely a bidding war, it undermines the essence of school-based competition.

The real issue isn’t the athletes taking better offers, it’s the system that allows unchecked financial influence to dictate where talents go. Until there’s proper regulation and transparency, this will continue to be a game of “who can pay more,” rather than who develops athletes the best.

San Sebastian kicked out Delta like a decade ago. But it took a while before they realized it. JRU is not a sectarian school.

Money is money anyway lol, if I am a probinsyano trying my luck with basketball in the city, I would definitely take whatever offer they would give, especially big money.

Which is why the like of Hubilla who already switches to multiple schools because of money (obviously, who has the best offer is the one will get him) can be understood because he came from a humble life. Pakapalan nalang talaga ng mukha, lol.

If going to another school will result with me living on a high-end condo and a service car, so be it.

When you came from rags, you will do anything to get into the riches.

Why are these schools desperate to be sponsored or backed up by this kind of company or people. Ncaa should make a ruling with this. No one can sponsor any ncaa school if the money are from politicians. Its automatic that its dirty money.

I think its the bernos of Abra who owns the Solid North partylist. Rumored to be the one who was involved in the mauling incident last opening day.

Solid North partylist is one heck of a partylist. They manage to sign Jason Brickman for Abra too.
