Yes for development. But would the general public accept it if we lose in SEA? They would crucify the kids online.

My suggestion is to form a team composed of the following.

4 Top College Prospects
2 Top High School Prospects
5 PBA Players
1 Naturalized Player (Kouame)

I don't think they will. Chot losing was an embarrassment because we lost with A LOT of PBA players in the team.

Besides, our collegiate still has the chance to either win or keep the game close.

And if they are getting PBA players, they should get those who are NOT the elites of the PBA.

1. what if Vietnam gets the approval and paraded the likes of Juzang of the Utah Jazz and Jaylin Williams of OKC plus those line-up from their 2017 SEAG

2. what if INA paraded the likes of Prosper, Diagne DMX and Beane alongside Jawato, Grahita as part of their "resbak" line-up

3. what if Cambodia paraded again those naturalized dudes alongside that notorious Cam-Am who schooled our guards during that Cambodia SEAG

man oh man!! 2025 SEAG mens basketball event would be a dandy to watch.

It's an open secret that the SEA Games is a tournament is often adjusted to favor the host country (we also do this). We really should not put too much weight on it.

Maybe, as the senior team win games against more elite teams, people will start paying NO attention that much to SEA Games basketball. IMO, it's more prestigious to win or get close against legit teams like Latvia, New Zealand, Serbia, Georgia than winning over "reinforced" Thailand or Cambodia.

Forming a team for next year’s SEA Games will be a huge challenge on SBP as the event will fall- in the midway of 2025-26 Commissioner’s Cup and EASL campaigns. And UAAP would be in the Final 4 by then. Korea’s KBL and Japan’s B.league are ongoing. Headache in calling available players that won’t conflict their respective leagues’ schedules. The only player I think that won’t have problem will be Kouame

Moreover the Thais who will be hosting maybe parading all- out and full-gear. Expect their heritage players like Martin Breunig, Tra Holder, Tyler Lamb, Moses Morgan and Freddie Lish to suit up plus its homegrown star Chanatip Jakrawan. And if their federation will decide to tap a naturalised player then definitely a nightmare for us in our quest to defend the crown.

Then again, I don't think it's much glory for a reinforced Thailand to beat a Team C collegiate team.

There is no exemption in SEA Games. Why do you think Cambodia's basketball team were mostly mercenaries?

Non-FIBA tournies don't have fixed rules. They have the choice to follow FIBA or not. The SGA team is even like half (aging) import, half Filipino.

An option are the near-retirement from basketball players who are no longer "serviceable" to play in FIBA games. Lol

Problem is, SBP is mandated to follow the directions of POC. If POC wants sure gold, then SBP needs to adhere to it. I dont think it's solely up to SBP or its Project Director to decide who to send or not.

even though it is not literally(?) encoded word by word the sentence "strong domestic connection" on the existing FIBA playbook

as we read the existing playbook "the wisdom" of strong domestic connection are very much indicated on any paragraph

in fact, I just read one provision in Chapter 1: Eligibility, National Status and Availability of Players - ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS
7. Players who participate in professional leagues must be registered with organization that are affiliated to a National Member Federation; OTHERWISE THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITIONS OF FIBA.

that is only one of those many provisions that has that wisdom that I'm talking.

"playing as a local" in a domestic league has a very strong merits, hands down

but as an added fortress to that merit, playing in a FIBA sanctioned tourney like 3x3 or FIBA- Asia Champions Club, I dunno if EASL is a FIBA sanctioned.

even though SEAG and Asian Games is not a direct sanctioned but we all know the referees and other tech. personnel are under the FIBA umbrella

in fact, the official uniform of the referees had an official "FIBA" logo on the upper part of their tees.

additionally, playing in the collegiate level, semi-pro like PBA D-League, MPBL, Sinag Asya, Fil-Basket, among others are also part of that merits as well.
