Evan Mobley and JJJ are potentially good prospects. They're not stars but may actually be good fits for the international game because of their defense and versatility.
I think "NBA-superstar-capability" is overrated when it comes to the international game. Guys like Bogdanovic, Schroeder, etc are formidable Fiba players but nowhere near the top of the nba-hierarchy. What's important is the "alpha/dog" gene inside. There's plenty of that in the nba with guys like Ant, Morant, Brown, etc.

An Embiid though is still vital (to match up with power players) and would still be in his prime (barring injuries) by 2028.

Some stars are just not made for FIBA or NT duties, like Jamal Murray.
Shooters over slashers. Spot-up over ball-handling shooters. Ball movement over iso. Speed (not necessarily always about physical speed, but ball speed) over strength. Team defenders (a lot of zones) over individual defenders.

I thought it will be Germany, because I think Germany is the only team can upset USA.. but because France is there, we have to analyze France chances.. against USA, they need Gobert to play more minutes, you don't put Wemby to play defense vs guys like Embiid or AD because they will abuse him... Yabusele and Lessort are strong but they are too small for Embiid, while 100% sure Batum will be the primary defender for curry.. France will not let curry to fire early like he did vs Serbia.. he will be scouted... KD vs Wemby will be the match up here... Since Wemby is the only guy to stop KD in scoring... Ntikilna, Courier, De Colo vs Booker, Jrue and White are equalizers... I like France chances... Because this time, USA will play for gold medal team against a home team.. so the fans inside will be against USA, unlike in the past that they don't play a home team in a gold medal match.. this is will be exciting game.. many said USA will win easily but that is not the case.. I'm sure France will go all out in front of their fans.. they want to finish USA dominance in basketball... Maybe USA will win by less points but I will not surprise if France win...

Anyway USA has 4 years to find the right coach and players for 2028. The game last night should be a wake-up call for their program.Philippine Malditas to FIFA Womens World Cup 2023

For context, US will have Flagg,Harper, Ace Bailey(though not impress with him), Dybantsa, Boozer twins, Darryn Peterson and Jayden Quiantance to choose from by 2028. Though yeah, most of them will be pretty much still be too young to compete in the Men’s competition but I expect them to be in the pool by then especially AJ Dybantsa

Ant Edwards is being pushed by NBA Media to be next Alpha. and sometimes he acts like one. But he was spotty at best in last seasons' playoffs. He choked vs Dallas like he choked against Germany and Canada last FIBA WC. NYK's Jalen Brunson did more to elevate his stature last playoffs. But he also didnt do well in Manila last year
