The Japanese are good because of only one thing: familiarity and confidence playing against tall players/teams.

To add to that, world teams playing against Japan are also not familiar with playing against a small team. They cannot device a strategy or adjust quickly, that's why some European teams struggle against them. Tactically, its easy to be effective against Japan: Exploit the mismatches. They are not good one on one defenders. Hovasse is not a defensive coach

Just like you like to dickride Guam. Hindi lang ikaw pwede mag dickride. Masyado mo inaangkin pag dickride eh.

Japan has a system that works for them. Is that not good? If their system aint good, they will not be where they are today. Simple common sense. What do you think will happen if they played deliberate basketball? If they pounded the ball inside?

We had a good system with Chot with Alapag and Castro and RDO. We have a good system with Cone with JF and KS. A good system is a system that works for you. Too hard to understand for your intellectual capacity?

This is peak Japan though, I believe. They won't be much better that this current team. This is their Golden Generation.

Unless they have another Rui in the pool, I will have to agree. Their problem is their frontcourt, they need to breed mixed Japanese more if they want to remain competitive.

i am willing to die on the will that in NBA and sports in general there are business decisions and there are sporting decisions, there are tons of players in a much tougher leagues that deserve a second look from NBA teams but do not bring anything to the business side of the sports, when Yao Ming was the face of asian basketball in NBA there were several Chinese players that also get picked up by NBA teams and we all know that China is the biggest market of NBA in asia but currently on a decline, now Rui is the face of Asian basketball in NBA though he don't have the same impact as Yao had, Japan has the money and can be a good market for NBA in asia, yes we are the most passionate in basketball but let's admit it we don't have money plus the fact that we don't have players yet that can pass the eye test maybe Sotto is the closest and like what i pointed out before Filipino players treat basketball as a source of living first and foremost so somehow players are afraid to take the risk and just choose where they can maximize income

Watanabe is their once of a lifetime pure Japanese phenom. The will have to look harder for more Jap-fors to find another Hachi. The best Japanese local players are below 6'5". The population growth is negative. If its any indication, the lowly Gilas youth team beat their youth team. Japan is not China, with the latter steady supply of tall players.

                    • just a question how can i keep my account logged in on a mobile phone, as i kept on getting logged out for every 2 minutes, while in my office PC and laptop i can close the browser or shut down my pc but when i open ibn i'm still logged in

anyways i am more frustrated with watanbe it seems he plays better in NBA than in national team, with all those years in NBA he should at least be the clear second best player in the roster

Watanabe is playing through injury I believe, that’s the reason he didn’t play in the friendlies. He’s not 100%

He dominated that 2022 batang gilas team with guys like caelum Harris, bayla, Konov, Gemao, Bahay and led Japan past New Zealand. Also got some nba looks at the World Cup. Legitimately talented player

Akira Jacobs and Yuto Kawashima are their future.

Akira Jacobs is looking like a project who Rui Hachimura once been.

Yuto Kawashima on the other hand needs to learn to play wing.

Those 2 could be the future Hachimura and Watanabe if the stars align.
