Latvia should've looked at the record of the Philippines against European teams for the last 60 years. That way they would have known that they were supposed to win with absolute certainty.
I'll come back here if Japan ends up winless in their bracket. They no longer have the benefit of being a host.

How does that prove that Brazil will beat Japan without a shadow of a doubt like you claim?

That was the essence of what I was telling Robert before you joined in.

Heck, I didn't even claim that Japan would beat Brazil. I'm just irritated at these claims of 100% certainty that this team will beat this team based on this and that.

This is the strongest roster Japan has ever assembled right? Hopefully Rui does not mess up their chemistry.

I can also say the same about giving any doubts to South Sudan and Brazil against Japan just because Japan won 3 last year.

South Sudan is a tier higher than Cape Verde. Brazil is also a tier higher than Venezuela.

Also, I am also irritated about everyone glossing over Japan can do this, can do that when there are teams tiers above them. It's ridiculous.

This is the same way I got irritated whenever Guam or Saudi Arabia could beat this, could beat that.

Japan cock sucking in sports forum is very prevalent nowadays, like in Reddit there are a lot of Inoue cocksuckers to the point of putting him above in ATG list with the likes of Ali, Leonard, Mayweather, Pacquiao because of being a 2-weight undisputed champ, but when you asked you were the boxers that he defeated how many are potential hall of famers, they will only downvote you to death, here i noticed that people are using Japan to diminished anything that Gilas achieved

Japan as host last 2020 Olympics 0-3 against Slovenia, Spain, and Argentina, the closest defeat was against Spain by 11 points, lost by 35 points against Slovenia and 20 against Argentina, though the current team looks stronger

                    Repost from Donatas Urbonas @Urbodo

The Paris 2024 Olympics promises to be the strongest ever

                    1. It features 12 All-NBA players from the 23/24 season—tying a record not seen in 28 years
                    2. The talent pool includes LeBron (GOAT discussion), Wembanyama (generational star), Jokic & Giannis (Euro GOAT race)
                    3. All-NBA players will represent 4 teams, with USA facing its strongest competition in years
                    4. This is only the 4th Olympics to feature the current NBA MVP (DPOY & ROY will also be present)
                    5. It will also feature the last five NBA MVP winners

3 of those mvp award in thr 5 yr span were won by Jokic ,other 2 was embiid and giannis.

If Harden and Westbrook (mvps from 16-17,17-18) didnt regress that much they would have been considered for team USA.

If we go further back, (2013-2014) there are 7 former mvps playing at the olympics (lbj, durant, curry, giannis, jokic and embiid)

                            Off topic,

how come Thon Maker can switch up and play as a local for South Sudan when he already played for the Australia senior team? Even if Australia will release him, isnt he supposed to be classified as a naturalize player same with Carlik Jones?

How can the 2 of them be allowed on the same roster?

How is his case different from Clarkson?

That is because the FIBA still sees South Sudan as a developing country. Well, they really is. They have the same situation as Bahamas. Technically, Philippines is not a developing country because we were always a basketball loving and past powerhouse country.

Same reason as Eric Gordon and all those NBA players of nigerian descent, to advance/promote the game clause
