Canadians up their defensive game in the final qtr.. mills struggled and lots of rush decisions for boomers. Barrett leading the way for canadians. Murray still struggled to play with ball dominant SGA..

Tough first half for Canada with foul trouble but second half adjustments really helped bring the team back. Also Canada’s perimeter D and help defense is top notch. Australia’s used their frontcourt size in rare situations but overall Canada’s ability to switch and recover as well as help kind of negates the lack of a decent defensive big.

If they going to blowout the Australia, or atleast win with a convincing lead, they could emerge as the best or 2nd best atleast; 3rd placer for the last 2 spots for the Quarterfinals.

A few quick thoughts (of course, @KanePitman and I will have extensive reax on @ESPNAusNZ overnight).
- Turnovers have been an Achilles heel for the Boomers, and it showed tonight: 18 tonight (9 in the 3rd Q). Canada had 28 points off turnovers.
- Lack of shooting showed. Just 8/25 (32%) from 3PT.
- Still doesn’t seem like there’s a go-to lineup (@andrewbogut has brought this up). Feels like Giddey-Daniels-Landale is a core, and the most effective additions to them aren’t clear.
- This was a rough one for Patty Mills (2/10 FG, 1/5 3pt, 4 TOV); the matchup was always going to be tough for him. Net negative defender + Canada’s size/athleticism/activity stifled him on the other end.
- If the Boomers survive the group phase, Jack McVeigh’s shot-making will be extremely important; he was solid tonight (3/5 3pt).
- The non-Jock minutes are a real issue.
- Dort can be an unethical basketball player at times but he changed this game in the 3rd Q.
