Rui is the Naomi Osaka of Japanese Basketball, he prioritizes mental health over other stuff outside of his work, in his case, his NBA career.

Japan lost a close one vs Korea. Had to come back from 20 points down but fell short

So Rui is going to play but he hasn't joined the tune-ups with Yuta.

With merely weeks to go before the Olympics, Yuta and Rui still havent seen some floor time in tune-ups. At least Yuta joins the team in practices, but not in actual games,

I believe Yuta is injured, he just wants to play in the Olympics, I don’t know what’s going on with Rui though

Rui became a diva for Japanese basketball... It might he will disrupt more than helping Japan team... He hasn't played for Japan since 2021 and there are some new teammates that Rui didn't played yet... This is somehow disadvantage of having NBA players in your pool...

As long USA will be defeated here, I'm OK with that.. sorry, I will support underdogs here... Better for sport of basketball if USA will lose, so that basketball will be more popular...

Rui made a ( probably sponsored ) appearance in the Japan v Korea Friendly, shooting warm up shots much to the delight of the Japanese fans. but he didn't join the rest of the team in the bench.

He said he's playing in Paris.

“I’m happy to be back after three years,” Hachimura said. “It’s an honor to return to the Olympic stage. I want to give it everything I have. I did not have good results at the Tokyo Olympics, so I want to show how much I have grown at the next Olympics.”
