FIBA power rankings have 2 criterias, past FIBA performance and intact line up that includes NBA players... Last OQT power rankings we were at 20th place, we were disrespect too, but we beat the odds beating Latvia.. on paper, Japan is slightly better than Puerto Rico and SSD but I'm sure Puerto Rico and SSD will beat Japan because of size advantage.. Japan will be bullied at the tournament proper...

It's not an impressive win again by USA... Although this is an exhibition match... The world is getting better... The 1992 team is slightly better than either 2008 or this current 2024 team but no one will disagree that the 2024 competition is the most competitive international competition all time, even better than 2004 team that USA lose... I'm sure those fans of 1992 team should realize that their competition before is so weak that some of their opponents are part time ballers, plumbers or maybe a corporate guy just pick to play to represent their countries...

starters barely played in the 4th qtr. those who are not in rotation finished the game. good fight by australia but it was already done when Tyrese hit two 3s in a row.
weaker teams could learn a thing or thing from Goorijan's playbook when trying to get back late in the game.Manifesting: Philippines top 5 in the FIBA World Rankings

Puerto Rico and South Sudan performed better than Japan in the last world cup and both ranked higher than Japan, the only NBA player Japan has is Hachimura who was so bad in the last playoffs, on paper i still see both countries having a better line up than Japan, Puerto Rico beat Lithuania in the OQT a stronger team than any team that Japan defeated in fiba wc 2023Manifesting: Philippines top 5 in the FIBA World Rankings

In all honesty the rest of Asia and some LatAm/European teams are f*cked the moment Japan replaces Hawkinson with an NBA-level naturalized player. Doesn't help that Yuta Watanabe is w the Chiba Jets, which means he'll be more involved now with Akatsuki Five.

with all the money in the world countries like China and Japan do not naturalize NBA level players though except for China last world cup but didn't end up well because having an NBA level of naturalize player is high maintenance and NBA do not adjust their schedule for fiba qualifying tournaments, so i don't see these countries going for NBA level naturalized player but instead those players that play as an import in their domestic leagues, even European countries don't naturalize NBA level talent, they produce NBA level talentManifesting: Philippines top 5 in the FIBA World Rankings

Familiarity and lack of chemistry will be an issue but they just have too many weapons that other teams have no advantage over them. They can swing the ball all they want, iso if they want, run down the shot clock if they want and it doesn't matter where the ball ends up-- it's always a high percentage shot.Manifesting: Philippines top 5 in the FIBA World Rankings

with their budget and the influx of world-level imports playing in the BLeague they for sure can identify a player that fits their system and is significantly better than Josh Hawkinson. Once that happens they become formidable in the region. Yudai Baba, Rui Hachimura, Yuki Kawamura, Keisei Tominaga, Yuta Watanabe all in their primes plus an NBA-level big??? I don't know which perennial Asian contender can stop that kind of lineup. It's a toss up between them and the Boomers. Everybody will play for 3rd place.

you are too afraid of Japan, if Hachimura stays in NBA, then his availability is always in question, in the last FIBA Asia Watanabe and Tominaga played but only finished at 7th place, and the way you talk as if other Asian countries will not improve, like what i said Japan cock sucking in this forum will make makipilis more ashamed of themselvesManifesting: Philippines top 5 in the FIBA World Rankings

yeah right. that's why they're in the Olympics while the rest are watching them at home, wishing to be in their place. Lol. Give credit where credit is due. They built a solid league, developed their homegrown players and played exceptional as one of the hosts of the World Cup. I'm not afraid of Japan, I'm just saying they could be even better with a simple roster adjustment.
