In other news, Germany losing to Serbia in the Bronze Medal Game takes away even more credit from the FIBA World Cup.

I think the spoiled nba superstars can only manage to attend an offseason tournament like this once every four years. And the Olympics is much more fun and has much more eyeballs watching.

Also, if you look at it at the perspective of the Americans, the rest of the world caught up with them because of familiarity. First, the stars of the other countries are in the nba. That loss of intimidation is valuable as demonstrated even by mediocre nba players like Alvarado and Mills. The more frequent they let other countries play them, the more the other countries are going to improve.

In terms of maintaining the gap, it's not in their interest to give other countries more reps against their Team A.

The only way is to put Olympic basketball as U23, similar to what football did since 1990s.. with that, all superstars will play in world cup...

Qatar is more comfortable place for some NBA stars to play there unlike in Manila or Jakarta.. especially for European stars because it's very near to Europe and unlike last cycle, there will have international break in 2026.. since continental cups will held in 2025... So some stars will have 1 summer break to use it for much needed break... Well, expected again to team USA to use again their young stars in world cup, but expect some international teams will go all out, Australia and Canada will go all out since they pick world cup as another big event after Olympics and they will not use their NBA players in continental cups next year (Australia will just use NBL players in FIBA Asia cup).. while I think some European teams will bring some of their NBAers or maybe will go all out to avoid to play in tough OQT event... Overall, the world cup today is more relevant than let's say 20 years ago, with social media era these day and international play is more fun to watch, the world cup is getting bigger and bigger...
