On defense, it will have our guys close out harder, which has been a problem for us in FIBA for a while. It can be a momentum-changer, so guys have to close out. However, yeah, it opens up the court. We won't have that space in FIBA.

    • I think no matter how exciting the PBA game is it won't matter unless the players show they can be competitive world wide. I think PBA had a minor bump after the first World Cup appearance. I think part of that was JMF's decent performance, culminating with his best game against Senegal. No local PBA player has been as good in that level of competition I think. JMF himself became slower in his subsequent iterations and was exposed as a sieve on defense. If any PBA player, excepting the NPs, shows a sustained decent performance at the World levels, I think interest will again go to the PBA. I don't think fans are impressed much by the highlights and high scoring in the PBA, when its best players are minor actors in the World level.

Junemar could have been that player had his weight and play style been adjusted for Fiba competition. Even now he is still growing his game. What if Coach Leo et al allowed him to play at a lower weight, lesser minutes and to play the perimeter more in his prime. He would have been hell of a better international player and his leg wouldn't have broken. But now JMF is at the tail-end of his career. Even his decent performance at the OQT didn't move the needle much for PBA fans. It would take for the next generation of PBA players to develop to be at World level and convince the fans that the PBA is world level.

Do you think he'll be allowed to join gilas if invited?

What happened to RR? Why is the 3rd best player in Phoenix not getting any minutes in today's game? How can a player like Salado play in the PBA? WTF is going on.

he probably will (again if hes eligible)
not sure about RR, honestly im surprised hes still in the roster after going absent for a couple of games. Either Dennis Uy wants to make money off that top pick by A. selling the pick B. increasing his team's value.

What? I thought jamike is just copying yeng style of coaching. Now it makes sense why this guy couldn't find a home in the PBA. In terms of talent, I don't think he's that far behind compared to TR.

What about the news that Kamaka Hepa is FIBA-eligible, how true or accurate that news was? I think that news makes more sense than the rumor or report that Hepa is PBA bound.

Agree bro. Also, it will further train our players, especially our guards & wings, to go over the screen & not under it on defense becoz offensive players now have the option to take a 4-pt shot which pagpumasok eh talagang masakit para sa kabilang team. I noticed that most of our PBA players usually go under the screen which leaves the offensive player with the ball open to take a 3-pt shot. Eh sa FIBA game or international basketball, hindi pwede ang ganyang depensa becoz players there would not hesitate to take a 3-pt shot even on a slight opening.

                      • is TNT dodging Ginebra? I think SMB has the top spot right now and BGK might have the bottom spot on the opposite group

That's Boy Sikip for you! He enjoys being involved in the most significant losses in any basketball competition.

No bearing for SMB, they can beat any team in the playoffs. While this gives ROS the chance to reach the finals having the less powerfull team in the QF and the semis.
