  • to be honest I dont see any team getting past TNT, TNT is just way too complete compared to NP Converge RoS Ginebra and Meralco. RHJ will probably Tolentino's biggest challenge one that im not confident he can overcome, if he does hes definitely in consideration again for Gilas. Converge is too thin at the bench to go man to man with TNT's depth though Diallo will probably their xfactor, RoS still lacks a proper a focal point of offense, Ginebra is only marginally stronger with a more tired Brownlee and theyre relying more on RJ on offense.

    • Heading is a one man wrecking crew. 18 pts so far in the first quarter.

      • Adrian Nocum is really good. No sophomore slump for him.

        • The Ginebra guard asked the public to report the dummy accounts that sent the death threats." Photo from Abarrientos' Instagram Story

"Posting this for awareness. Grabe talaga mga tao sa social media. Talo lang sa pusta, biglang death threats gamit dummy accounts, pati pamilya dinadamay pa," the 25-year-old hoops player said.

"Paki-report! Nakakaalarma 'yung ganitong ugali," he also said.

The clamor to include Jordan Heading to Gilas would only get stronger by this. How could one as good as this player be left out of our current national team?

Nope. Not until after FIBA Asia Cup. Any new player added will disrupt team’s cohesion… unless if there’s injuries in guard position…

Gawd, the 2021 Gilas Squad Members are all showing their excellence in the PBA, BLeague and KBL.

                • Might sound casual but was Adrian Nocum a star in NCAA? A big star like Robert Bolick? Scottie? Or CYG just did his usual job of developing his player into a star?

                  • Just noticed this while watching the ROS vs Converge game. I think the Pinoy step is travelling. Seeing what the actual move is I realized I already saw this being done almost 30 years ago or at least the early version of it while playing pick-up ball as a teen. I was a in a dorm with kids all over the country. There was this was one kid from the province who had a reputation of being a good baller. I didn't understand. He was a bit short, not fast, was not a jumper, was not a shooter nor was an excellent dribbler. And then I saw him drive. He did his two steps but he would slide his feet making his strides longer and unpredictable. To me it looked suspiciously like travelling. Fast forward to today. It seems to me the Pinoy step basically drags the pivot foot before stepping on the other foot. This makes the stride longer and more unpredictable. But it sorry it looks like travelling to me because the foot being dragged is the pivot foot. It is hard to catch it at real time but on slow motion it is obvious that the pivot foot is being dragged.

If Heading was integrated into the Gilas program starting the 2nd window (I think he was willing & available at that time), then he would be part of the pool/team this 3rd window (remember that prior to the 2 games of the 3rd window. Gilas wud play in a pocket tournament in Qatar), I think going into the FIBA Asia Cup in August, Heading would have immersed himself with coach Tim's system & would have established some cohesion with his Gilas teammates.

Well, that thing is moot & academic now. We are just lucky that none of our guards got injured since the 2nd window so we weren't really in need of a replacement.

Yeah. Only the Nieto brothers & Rey Suerte are the ones who aren't making significant impact. But I think not too many of us here expected these players to become impact players anyway.

This just supports Tab’s choices. Mike is probably the only “system” choice there and was mostly just to teach the others. Even Suerte was a big name in the UAAP at that time

NOpe. He was just a solid rotational player for RAndy Alcantara in Season 97 of the NCAA when the Cardinals reached the NCAA finals and lost to Letran and in Season 98, surprsingly his numbers dipped resulting to Mapua's poor showing that season. Both seasons, the team were led by PAolo Hernandez and Warren Bonifacio as their best players.
