Two years from now, Gilas will have Esomchi, Okebata, Gupilan,Teoc, Simple and Regala for our u16 team. I'm excited because these kids are good players and their height right now is between 6'0-6'5

I think the propose SBP Under tournament should come up with an ideal schedule to cater both domestic and possible overseas teams considering kids are involve here.

here in PHI specifically public or government funded schools, the school calendar are now 100 percent(?) back to it's old setup meaning March to May are vacation time

but majority of the school calendar outside PHI, summer break starts on 2nd week of June up to the last week(?) of Aug.

so in order to have that common ground, the stakeholders should come up with a better timeline to avoid possible conflict of schedule on both parties

besides we all know that the objective and the intention of that propose under tournament is to discover talents that they could tap for future U16 and U18 teams.

FEU U16 featuring Prince Carino will compete in Japan B. League’s U16 Tournament, taking place from January 30 to February 3, 2025, in Tokyo

The tournament will feature six teams, including three from Japan, two from Korea, and the lone Philippine representative, FEU. The competition format places the teams in two brackets, with the top two from each group advancing to the Final Four, culminating in a championship showdown.

FEU's U16 roster will compete against squads from Japan and Korea in Tokyo in what promises to be an exciting tournament for youth hoops.

    Good day Sir Wawa,

is it some sort of a Jr. PBA kind of format or a Jr. MPBL stuff?

    or a combination of both?

I think SBP should merge those two alongside the yearly NBTC/Manila Live Games

indeed having the concept of those 3 entities would be a good avenue to those aspiring youngsters out there

who wants to be part of the Batang Gilas program.

A combo guard measuring 188-193cm (6'2"-6'4") would give us some options as to lineup versatility. We could have a two-PG lineup without sacrificing size.

As for 6'5"+ wings, hope defense and shooting will be the emphasis (basically 3&D) because I feel that those are the most important aspects for non-star wings in FIBA, defense more so.

If the program director adheres to this plan, which in all indications, he would, he is expected to sync up both Seniors and Youth teams for easier transition.

balti's most important skills during the tab era were his ability to defend the wing & make open 3s, i wonder if he can still do both consistently

Hopefully, LA will identify taller players since triangle will not be that effective without a legit bigman and a tall wing scorer.
