I think that's one brilliant move on the part of SBP
Pampanga led by Gov. Delta are considered as the Gold Standard as far as basketball and volleyball recruitment are concern.
let set aside whatever issues hurled against the family of that sports politician that thing is for another thread.
the important thing is they graciously accepted the hosting of the said event
who knows the possibility of hosting future FIBA Asia Under tourney both for boys and girls will be reality.
they had the financial resources and connections to do that.
having the Pineda's, the SGA's, and hopefully the SM empire decided to collaborate with SBP alongside MVP and SMB group
as far as running the youth program are concern and they are in the same page all together.
absolutely, we could form a formidable line-up both for boys and girls compose of blue chippers here and abroad.

I think it would be good for our Batang Gilas U-16 team to tune-up with our top high school basketball teams in the country like NU-Nazareth, newly crowned NCAA Jr's. champion Perpetual, St. Benilde & other UAAP high school teams. Yung mga key players nitong mga high school teams eh 17, 18 & even 19 yrs old, hence they would offer good competition to our Batang Gilas U-16 team."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I say they should do what Japan is doing, participating in pocket tournaments against other countries youth team also. Or have a game against pro teams or semi-pro.
I even think participating as guest team in the PBA would, let these kids play against grown men. But I think that's not possible.
It is also good to field them on Sea Games if possible, the PH won't get anything there anyway even if they win with Team A.

The U16 team that's gonna be in the Asian tournament not the SEABA one should go have at least 10 games in the US against top HS teams, using FIBA rules that should elevate the game of the locals and it will showcase their talent overseas too.

If it's true that the team we are sending are all locals then di pa sure ang Pilipinas sa gold. This generation is relatively weaker and the past generations. Thailand's youth team got so many mixed blood playing in their youth leagues. I came across one player that stood out. He's name is Lorenzo Ravazzini. The kid is pretty tall about 6'6 - 6'7. Saw some vids of him dunking in game at 15 years old. We don't have that type of player sa U16 natin if I'm not mistaken aside from the kids from FilAm Nation. I hope CLA is not taking SEABA lightly. Baka ma-embarass tayo sa sarili nating home court.

The kid is slow and raw, to be honest. All he did were simple dunks, which he wouldn't be able to pull off if he were guarded by someone taller or even just the same height. He was literally being guarded by other Thai players who aren’t as good compared to the usual U16 varsity players here in the Philippines.
The gap between our youth players and those from our Southeast Asian neighbors is much wider than you think. Our grassroots program is definitely better. Filipino kids literally start playing basketball as soon as they can walk and run.
I'm pretty sure this generation is stronger than the last batch that went to the U17 World Cup.

Parading an all Philippine born kids for this qualifiers is cool for me, I've already mentioned this before.
as much as we want to include that 6'10 Fil-Chi 15 yr. old kid Aldwil Yap as the 11th or 12th guy for that much needed exposure and experience
compared to that lumbering Thai-Italian kid, I think Bondying is much more fundamentally sound and the kid is dedicated and focus to learn more
the parents esp. the father knows who are the people that could help and assist their son moving forward, it just show that they had a bigger plans from the get go.
anyway, the latest buzzin' I've heard is that aside from Kainoa Patton and Brian Stevenson, they are also planning to re-consider a few talents that hasn't participated
during the recently concluded NBTC and Manila Live games
I think NABA and FNS are recommending some talents that are in the process of securing and already obtained their respective documents.
I do hope our fellow our fellow IBNers could share something on those kids from FYBA DC team aside from that 3-star prospect Aidan Agrabright
I know some of us including me are caught by surprise that Aidan is legit all the while I thought his mother is Latina.
correct me if I'm wrong, I think some of kids from that FYBA are still U16,
just curious of the age and length of those kids...
they are the mystery team on this edition.

I do hope coach mighty mouse may re-consider coaching our Batang Gilas team moving forward.
excited to see him and coach tinyente alongside Gabe Norwood in the bench
who knows adding coach Alex Compton in the coaching staff is also a good idea as well.
Tenorio made the trip before Barangay Ginebra returns to action in the Philippine Cup. He also met with Alapag for the first time after being appointed as head coach of Gilas Pilipinas Youth.
Don't be surprised if part of their conversation included the coaching aspect of the game.
