what I like about that kid Brian is his defensive mindset at his age he is chiseled and already developing those cuts that shows that he is determine to be in game shape always.
reminds me of younger and taller version of Rudy Hatfield but with better skillsets and handles.
I think the kid and his Filipina mother will be part of that big entourage

Meanwhile, Tyler Reyes and Andwil Yap don’t seem to be part of the pool, despite both being 6’9”. The talent in this batch must be deep if those two are being overlooked. Andwil’s father even mentioned that his son wasn’t invited on their youtube channel. They may still be raw, but this is SEABA. Considering Al Chua himself stated he would prioritize finding the tallest players, it’s surprising that they weren’t included.

If they could only address this through a developmental coach I think there will be no doubt he will make it. The Kid can shoot and he is bully strong I can also see his determination. I hope he improves more.
Tried to ask his dad and he said he was not invited to the U16 tryout by CLA. He also did not manage to show off on that MILCU talent identification which cost him the invitation, his fellow bigs on his team (Toring and Maranan) got invited to the U16 tryout.

Goodluck Okebata 6'3 (2010 born) made it to the final U16 lineup of this batch as posted by his Mother.
So 1 down for the 12-man lineup.
Just curious if there is a 12-man lineup alreay because that would mean no more additional fil-ams for this batch.

The former coach was known for keeping the core intact and replacing the replaceable players with another replaceable players. I hope this won't be the same scenario this time with CLA.

The blogger described Goodluck Okebata as a 6-foot-3 guard. I'll take that words with a grain of salt & would believe that Okebata is a wingman perhaps a small forward. Mga basketball bloggers kasi dito sa Pinas, if they would say a young player is a point guard, usually that player is actually a natural 2-guard. If they say a player is a shooting guard, that player would turnout to be a small forward."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

I think just for the sake of exposure
I mean I'm not belittling the coming SEABA under-tourney because seriously Indonesia and Thailand
is fast catching up esp. Thailand who are also active in scouting their overseas diaspora just like us
either Owen Calanasan or Aldwil Yap should occupy that 12th spot just to make their feet wet.
yes those kids are still lumbering but giving experience like that is beneficial for the Gilas Program moving forward
actually I've already mentioned this before and I can't help myself to spit it out again.
as for 6'7 Prince Carino and Goodluck Okebata , I've seen a glimpse of special things on those kids.
they had a good IQ to the game and had a good balance on the floor esp. Carino who is more matured compared to his contemporaries (may old soul ata)
I do hope his handlers may provide them a top notch skills trainer to unleash and hone their potential.
I totally agree on Sir Metta's suggestion from the other thread, maybe a US exposure for a possible D1 journey is a good investment.
but not all is a Andy Gemao or a Kiefer Alas.

Though I'm all for that Andwil Yap for the 12th spot. If CLA will be having players ride the bench and enter the blowout games just for experience, might as well put the raw yet tallest players. Because as they say, you can't teach height.
Might aswell put in the 6'9 Tyler Reyes on there because right now, I think he has the highest upside and potential with all of our bigs project.
Can't really say Carino is a project because the kid knows ball.
