Even if you have a facilitator playing as a wing or a "four", your team would still need an intelligent & skilled point guard to get the job done.Last edited by OverratedTabBaldwin; 06-13-2024, 11:33 AM.

That said, I hope Lopez is what we’d hoped Kobe would be.

Im glad KQ is finally able to score over Alarcon. It would have been embarassing for the 6’5 MVP being stopped by 6 foot Alarcon. But it seems he found a match against Lopez. This will be a problem.
The one big question remaining is how will Mike P impact this matchup. With MP, La Salle can rotate him and Aguanne without almost no loss on defense and rebounding. Will Alter or Gani be effective matching up against MP. For now I will favor La Salle because they have the best defensive center rotation in the league. Alter is not bad. So let’s see when they match up at full power.

From what Ive heard Lopez has trouble keeping up with Poli in the perimeter but apparently not KQ.

Udodo on Mike
Alter/Torculas on Henry
Lopez on KQ
Poli needs to step up big time. Cortez too.

Poli has a more effective first step than KQ. He's a bit more natural when it comes to moving like a wing than KQ. Not that long ago, majority of people considered KQ strictly as a big. Now we're analyzing his blow-by capabilities. I think he's still improving in that department.
For me, him transforming to a very good 3-pt shooter is more important. It enables space. He can use that shooting ability paired with his strength and passing to be a poor man's version of Doncic instead of regularly blowing by opponents which will never happen internationally.
Lopez somewhat defending him effectively is why our players need to keep playing against tall and athletic competition. It's what makes you refine your skills and continually improve.

Lopez I think has all the physical tools to be a good defender, strong build, long arms, athletic, earlier in the game he was fitting through screens and he has good footwork I think as well, in the fourth he looked exhausted was t fighting through screens but he really bothered KQ and mostly stayed with him a lot. Policarpio I would think also could be since he has long arms, athleticism and his build is leaner but still strong however I think he looks flat footed when he plays perimeter defense and sometimes just disengages and ball watches, he plays drop coverage a lot in dlsu and does not go out into the perimeter at all most of the time leading to open shots and him getting lost on D sometimes. He kind of reminds me of Japeth a bit in the sense that if he makes a mistake it gets into his head and leads to a series of more mistakes

Hopefully, Lopez can keep up that strong defense in the UAAP. That will go a long way for him getting called up. He's a tad small for 4 at 6'5", so he'll have to play the 3 full-time.

UP has to work extra hard defensively in season 87 because Diouf is no longer around to bail out their mistakes. On a different note, I don't understand why Gani Stevens is still in the UAAP. His game is a lot more suited in the NCAA where slow-footed centers are still a thing.Last edited by OverratedTabBaldwin; 06-14-2024, 06:24 AM.

Also having a good FSA like Agunnane will be a challenge for Philipps. How long has he been in the UAAP and he still hasn't developed his perimeter shooting. His minutes will definitely be affected by Agunnane. He also needs this for the PBA. While he has decent strength he is not as strong as a Bates. He might find it hard in the PBA without a perimeter shot.

I think it's a lot to do with KQ being more of a "four" than a natural wingman. We have to remember that KQ started out playing as a natural big guy especially in high school. Yes, he has outside shooting, he can dribble & his passing is exceptional but that doesn't really make him a natural wingman.
Iba talaga gumalaw ang mga natural wingman like a Dwight Ramos or a Calvin Oftana. U can see the difference how they can create their own shots off the dribble from the perimeter as compared to how KQ does it. U can see how fluid Ramos & Oftana are in the way they dribble drive. The same couldn't be said about KQ.
At best, KQ can be a combo forward or a tweener, but he's no natural wingman."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

Puro mintis mga tira ni KQ sa 4th quarter. He struggled big time in the entire 2nd half.
