I think he's trying too much, he was used to being a big kasi back in his old school and now he's trying to slide a position down and for his age, itll be a challenge for him already

They also won the PCCL title twice in 2014 and co champions with FEU in 2015. Aside from finishing runner up multiple times in both tourneys. The presence of FSA's Sam Ekwe, Sudan DAniel+, Ola Adeogun, Donald Tankoua and Nunu NOah helped the program.
From what I saw. The only way a non-FSA team can keep close with a good FSA team is by friendly whistle from the refs. I am not sure if it is Letran or San Beda. They had a 6'5 center who is a PBA benchwarmer now, and matched him with Kouame. The game was surprisingly close. You know why? They were calling touch fouls on Kouame on one side and then letting the 6'5 center man-handle him on the other side. If the calls were even then they would have lost already in the first half. It seemed to me the refs were favoring the NCAA team to keep it close. I haven't watched these games recently but that game gave me a bad taste in the mouth. So I always take a non-FSA team vs FSA team game with a grain of salt. If the whistles are fair the FSA team has to sit their FSA to make it a closer match.

Actually IRC I saw this the other year when UST didn't have an FSA. 6'6 Laure I think was very physical but the FSA again is getting called for touch fouls. It makes the game close. But I think it's not fair. It was UST's fault for not getting an FSA. There is no universe that tubby Laure can match up with a decent FSA with fair calls.

        • Surprisingly, Letran head coach Allen Ricardo is in favor of bringing back FSA in the NCAA.

Gone are the days when NCAA teams confidently competed on the same footing as UAAP squads during tournaments such as the Filoil EcoOil ECJ Preseason Cup. Before the current landscape of collegiate basketball shifted the way both leagues operated, the finals of offseason tournaments were a must-see, featuring the best both leagues had to offer. […]

The newest coach in the collegiate ranks, Allen Ricardo of Letran, whose Knights were the lone NCAA squad to prevail in the crossover quarterfinals, went in-depth on how the lack of foreign student-athletes makes a significant difference in how the two leagues operate.

“If you’re going to look at NU, DLSU, UP, pagdating sa 3-4-5 position mediyo mabigat na. Sa 1-2 position, pwede pa magsabay ‘yung NCAA. Pero sa 3-4-5 position, malayo na ang gap,” the back-to-back NCAA juniors champion coach said.

Ricardo hopes the league revisits the issue of banning FSAs in the NCAA since 2020 to bridge the gap between the two leagues.

“Sort of concerning, kasi pagdating ng preseason, expect nila automatic UAAP na . Maybe in time, pwede ibalik ng NCAA ‘yung FSA. Mahirap to bridge that gap,” admitted Ricardo.

“Para sa akin, nasa materyales pa rin at babagsak ka pa rin sa FSA, kahit anong gawin mong pagpapahinog sa locals sa NCAA, malaking bagay pa rin na may FSA.”

Well itll still be up to their mancom rep and the rest that voted for it (fr calvo, known proponent of abolishing the fsas) if the ban will be lifted

Green side got lucky. If it weren't for Razon, KQ would probably be in Ateneo now.

This works both ways. Like where would Ateneo be without MVP? Kiefer Ravena probably stays green for one.

Agreed. I was responding to a comment where DLSU almost losing to NU despite having a loaded lineup. Where is Ateneo in that DLSU vs. NU finals equation? I think irrelevant.

                  • Surprised no one is talking about Enderun's FSA Kenneth Oumba and DJ Howe. Are they really good? Havent watched any of their games. Both are mythical 5 members.

Oumba is not your typical fsa. He's doesnt really play as a big, plays from the perimeter and not that tall. I think he's around 6'6. He's plays like ust fsa peter osang but much better skills wise. Howe naman is a great scorer but undersized for his position. He's a shooting guard in a point guard's body, he's around 5'9 or 5'10. Both are solid players but may not fit in with teams that can only deploy 1 fsa at a time.

                            • UP is 2-0 against La Salle in the pre-season. La Salle misses Nelle's presence out there.

                              • Just saw snatches of the game. Ododo did not start but Aguanne played heavy minutes early one. KQ was able to solve Alarcon's defense. Reyland Torres a 2, a steal, then a 3. In the final minutes Aguanne was sat for some plays. Seems to me he got tired and La Salle couldn't score with him on the bench.
