Marasigan is ready but he is playing behind a good number of guards.
I also like Marasigan's game. If the sacrificial lamb for the nepo babies is either him or Dungo, I'd rather that it be Dungo who sits out for a year.

Agree with this, not to mention he's also a decent outside shooter. He would have no problem bullying opposing guards off the drive or post. Should be a key fixture in the rotation in a season or 2

      • Rubico, Marasigan and Dungo all seem fearless. But they all play the same style of basketball, offensive guys and not playmakers.

Looked decent, pero looks like he's still learning dlsu's system.

He's experiencing the usual filam realization that waaay more physicality here is allowed compared to the US.

He's a bit older so he should adjust quicker, but he will need the reps in the preseason. Fortunately for him, there won't be too much pressure to playmake due to having KQ and a lot of shooters.

DLSU acquiring him really shows that they're gunning for that back-to-back no matter the cost. It's on top of KQ's mind-boggling monthly (more than a lot of small teams whole monthly budget). Then you have Mike and Poli. After that they're on the hook longer term for Konov, Cortez, Baclaan and the rest of the guys.

DLSU really has deep pockets on par with UP and was just waiting for the right moment to deploy it.

              • I understand why NU won't spend anymore because it's all business for them and business has been good.

But what's up with ADMU and their recruitment? They also have deep pockets but have been losing the bidding wars recently.

                • Looks like UP won't be playing their Pinoyliga quarterfinals against Enderun tomorrow. Reason is incomplete lineup due to exams.

My guess, the uncertainty of tab's situation with ateneo, if im a top recruit and the one who recruited me isnt on the hook long term and can be replace by someone who may not have the same trust in me and can bring along recruits of his own, yeah ill prolly go somewhere else where the coach is in it for the long term. Another should be the team's 'open' rebuilding situation, recruits could prefer teams in win now mode as it helps them with their bball resume if they won championships. And lastly ateneo's or tab's strict academic requierements, most of these guys are athletes first and students second. They would prolly have a hard time adjusting to the acads situation of the school. Its no secret that most of these guys still need to take the acet before even being admitted to ateneo.

Any idea how many years Tab has left with Ateneo?

The defense of other teams, namely UP and La Salle, have stepped up.

The rookies and sophomore on the current Ateneo team should be ready by then. Hopefully, Tab stays but then again he's done it all in the UAAP. Maybe he can move to a different role within Ateneo ala Bo Perasol?

The UP defense, when it's on, is a joy to watch. Just constant pressure, switching, and hustle plays. It's UP's offensive sets that leave a lot to be desired, honestly.

Its tom chua calling the shots on defense right? I always see him coaching when they're on defense. Pretty underrated imo.
