It's the typical pinoy expectation. It's why we never have a more successful Gilas program, there's no patience for long-term outlooks. And "hinog and gurang" players (with short-term benefits and lower upsides) will always be chosen over young more promising players.

On the defensive end, I think more than the fatigue factor lack of bigs is the main problem. With Kai and Chiu leaving early then having the fsa and Demisana out, they only have Lazaro (who is playing out of position) as a veteran big. Ong and Porter are uaap rookies. It's just a personal theory but I think Amos probably prepared himself to transition more towards an SF/stretch 4 and lost some weight, but is now forced to play in the post.

On offense, after losing Brown, Credo and Balungay, that's more than half the team's points that has to be redistributed to a team of rookies and sophomores. That won't really get figured out until the rotation is set. The process would be faster if their system just allows guys to run and gun, but they play systematically so it's harder for new players.

      • KQ has outgrown uaap. He's unstoppable and is a walking mismatch. Put a smaller guy and he'll bullyball him, put a bigger guy and he'll play in the perimeter. Put someone who matches him in size/speed or double him and he goes to another gear and either drains stepback three's with consistency, or pull in the defense and make an assist.

Really hope he goes international after this season. He's already hitting his prime and needs to get pushed higher.

How long does a rebuild usually take? 2 to 3 years, at least? It would be interesting to see if Tab will stay until the rebuild is complete.

Is this KQ's last year of eligibility by the way? He's a man among boys already. I don't think any UAAP player can contain him.

There's no set time...UP took almost 40 years and DLSU 7. So many factors (money, recruitment, coaching, injuries).

It’s honestly good he’s developing his offensive game, it was his weakness during his SGA stint that he couldn’t create for himself especially in that final. But playing in the uaap and for dlsu gives him freedom to try out and develop his individual game that he might not get an opportunity to do in the pros on a team that expects him to contribute right away. I want to see his perimeter defense improve though since he’s not laterally quick

The thing with that is...what will work in the uaap won't necessarily work in higher levels (rebounding is the only skill that usually translates).

It's always better to play up and figure it out in that level asap (especially since he's approaching his mid-20s).

                  • Topex has used 3 different rotations for D League, Filoil and Pinoyliga. I hope this doesn't affect chemistry specially with the incoming Fil Am PG.

Dungo looks promising. Might dislodge Rubico though. Alian needs to find a new team. Marasigan, Gaspay and Buensalida need to wait.

Koreans have been doing this. Dave’s looks ugly but it always goes in when he was open.
It was such a flat shot

Not only alian, buensalida as well dude's been with la salle for what, 3 years already if someone's gotta move, its him. I mean even if kq moves on after the sewson, poli will still be there not to mention getting konov is the nail in the coffin for him. Gaspay only has what 2‐3 years, dont think he can wait any longer as well and as for vhoris, dude looks ripe for the picking, he deserves a spot.

So Alian and Buensalida needs to leave. Maybe go to CSB instead.

Marasigan is ready but he is playing behind a good number of guards.

                          • Marasigan's play reminds me of Buenafe. Very burly, can handle the ball and always seeks contact first.

Lazaro stagnated and got left behind by his fellow S82 mythical 5 members. Quitevis’ shot is still something opponents disrespect. Amos lost weight but still has nothing more than his outside shot and a few post moves. In fact, he’s still slow, neither a rim protector nor a quick switch guy on pick and roll defense, and his weight loss might have even made him a weaker post option.
You do know that he won a championship without Kouame, against a strong well coached Mbala led la salle team?

Hes can no longer be considered a super coach, but he didnt suck either

                              • Personally, I think Tab raised the bar when he got here, local coaches then rose to challenge and has finally caught up.
