the knock here is the small attempt volume. We’ll see how good he really is with more touches.

idk maybe it's just me but I feel like lopez has been improving at a steady rate, he's also clearly playing within the system im sure if his team didn't have the talent that it has (which is a lot especially ith the likes of Bayla coming in) the coaching staff would give him more leeway

Well, the good thing about Lopez is that he's still young. He'll turn 21 few days from now. The key is for him to polish basic basketball skills - shooting, dribbling & defense. Most players start to seriously improve/polish basic skills when they reach 20 to 23 years old. Take the case of the 23-year old Kevin Quiambao who obviously has improved his game in the last 2 years or so. I think everyone will agree that current Kevin Quiambao is a significantly better basketball player than a 21-year old Kevin Quiambao. I think Quiambao made a conscious & serious efforts in polishing his shooting & ball handling in the last 2 years. If Lopez is going to do the same, I'm confident Lopez will be a significantly better player 2 or 3 years from now. Hope Lopez hires a skill coach/trainer that would focus on polishing his shooting, ball handling & defense."A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

in the case of KQ, his is a much better passer but his handles could still use some work. He cannot get past smaller, peskier defenders when coming from the perimeter and this limits both his ability to leverage his size driving to the basket, and his ability to playmake using his own movement rather than his teammates’ off-ball movement.
Lopez in contrast has drastically improved his three point shot, including some step-backs which he has been displaying for a while now. He also has tight enough handles to drive even against smaller defenders, and has already proven last year that he is good at the kick-out pass either when driving, or when being the high post man in a zone-buster offense.
what Lopez specifically lacks is a mid-range shot, especially a pull-up. He also hasn’t taken more threes so defenders usually correctly expect a drive or a pass. Lopez also doesn’t have good vision dishing to the dunker spot, unlike his teammates Alarcon and Felicilda. Lopez in general hasn’t had the ability to take advantage of his teammates’ off-ball movement in the way KQ does.
Defensively we haven’t seen much by way of laterals because he has been defending post players more often, and teams employ post attacks more than pick and rolls against UP because of a perceived weakness at the 4 spot. But Lopez has good anticipation on the weakside both going for helpside blocks or intercepting cross-court passes.
Lopez has a lot of homework to do, but to say he hasn’t improved a lot is a bit of a stretch. Even intangibles-wise, he has proven to be good at absorbing the system and playing within it, and is a loud cheerleader on the bench.

If Lopez wants to be a scorer in the international level, he needs creation in the midrange and enough handles to pull that off.

Defensively, Lopez should improve his laterals. In FIBA, he's a wing. And I think defense carries more importance at the wing than just shooting if we're talking internationally. That is, if the wing's not at the level of a Fadi El-Khatib or a Samad Nikkah Bahrami.

Also worth nothing he's also kampangan and former ue jr warrior. Sayang he wasnt able to build on his development. He has the hops and skills to be the next will gozum. Atleast one less headache for the team

Hope the injuries are minor. Jarque is injury prone e
