  • What was puno's injury?

    • Ankle injury https://www.spin.ph/basketball/ncaa-...ef=article_tag

Apparently, he could have played against benilde, but the team opted not to risk it for his future, I guess that is the downside of having a blue chip recruit, understandable naman pero look at Bravo, that kid is a warrior. Despite the severity of his injuries this season, he still chose to play and scored 20 points in his last game. Now that's the kind of player that SBU should put into team A next season.

Bravo getting bad advices about his life threatening injury. Should not risk it. There's more to basketball. He has life ahead of him..

Yeah, I get your point, and his health should definitely come first. But if we're just talking about the kind of attitude and determination you want on your team, who would you rather have between the two?

It’s a team decision not to field Puno.

Yeah, well, I think that their decision not to play Puno against CSB is also their way of saying they gave up. Maybe that's why the boys played with no energy or urgency to win that game at all. We all know we can't win that game without Puno.

At least SAn Beda will have a puncher's chance of winning with a Jomel Puno. The 2 losses to CSB in the eliminations were very close at least for almost 36 minutes of the game. Then SAn Beda will just collapse in the closing minutes with Ancheta and Ynot hitting big shot after big shot. This benching made Jomel Puno looked bad. I cant imagine a Robert Bolick or a Javee Mocon sitting it out for this very important game.

                      • Ive said this before and ill say it again. 2 things were missing with san beda this year. The jacob cortez factor and the lack of a good big man rotation.

Last season, when the offense broke down, you had a jacob cortez that can still take over and you know will make the shot. This year when the play breaks down, benilde just knew to stick to their man and grab the boards since they know that beda dont have anyone that can be consistent enough to make those shots

Season 99 you had a jopia, cuntapay, visser to help andrada and puno at the post. Even with your shooters missing, big chance that these bigs will give you a second chance opportunity and defensive anchors in the paint. In the last game benilde basically had no trouble scoring in the paint, they had 52 points. Liwag and everybody else had no challenge in the post.

san beda's supposed vets also disappeared. You know you're in trouble when the usual headache aj royo topscored and had more points than andrada and payosing combined (11 pts), that and puno also not playkng. Tbh even charles tiu and benilde were surprised he didnt play, but i get it, prolly dont want to risk his career out of it.

I think all of this happened because of the questionable player selection. SBU did not get anything from their bench players. RC and Sajonia are hit-or-miss, his brother is a non-factor, and the same goes for Jalbuena, Sollano, and Tagala. Why are they even on the main team if they cannot perform? Yuri's biggest mistake was not elevating Etulle, Hawkins and Lopez to Team A.

Cortez bailed Yuri out last year when his head was about to roll. Without Cortez, we wouldn’t have won Season 99. His individual play is what this year's team is missing.

                          • The amount of entitled San Beda fans trashing a player for not playing while hurt. Then the same fans heckling players for leaving. Players should put themselves first because none of these schools would put their players interests over their own. San Beda needs to live with the fact they are being out spent by other schools now and they are already in the ncaa. Its hard to have that sense of entitlement when other programs have been doing and offering more.

This is the reality. Cant blame anyone leaving for a bigger deal or better opportunity. Heck San Beda has its doors open to transferees as well.
