The Clint Escamis game-winning three will further increase his stock. Man that was cold. Ynot could have closed out on him quickly but decided to back off. You can see a mile away with that left hand dribble Escamis will fire a triple.
Saw a clip, kinda lucky 3 by escamis. Im wondering, CSB was leading by 1, why not just hold the ball and let Mapua foul?
Was the shot clock running out?
Lucky or not, escamis is known to make those clutch shots, and he's due for something like that. It was off an offensive board, but yeah could have done a better job of keeping the ball instead of forcing a shot. But what gives me off is the piss poor second half. Contenders cant give up 20 pt lead like that. No excuses, this was an awful result. Benilde now needs to win out for them to secure 1st seed.

Allen Liwag fumbled the pass by Sanchez which triggered the Mapua fastbreak and allowed the Escamis triple.
You can see from the clip that CSB had 10 seconds or less in their shot clock when Liwag fumbled. Or was that the game clock?

What a let down. Every benildean in the venue was shell shocked. But this is more on their defense and hustle in the 2nd half. Mapua only had 5 to's the whole game.
They need to regroup fast and cant let this hang in their heads. If san beda defeats them in the next game. I dont see this team reaching the finals even with the twice to beat.

That loss should return them back to earth. And better to lose now and learn than in the final 4. Hope they use this L as motivation for the next games.
St. Benilde scored 9 points in the 3rd and 10 points in the 4th. They had trouble scoring in the second half. They are the number 2 scoring team in the first round.
When the game is close, they have trouble scoring in the perimeter. They are the second to worst in perimeter points in the first round.
As mighty as CSB is, "kinakabahan din pala sila" when gane is close...from down 20 and when push comes to shove you can see mapua wants it more...though it was a lucky chamba shot from Clint, we'll gladly take it.
CSB did it to themselves. That was a low IQ play. Why even pass it around to attack. Should have milked the clock even more and let them foul you since the you're up 1 with the shot clock turned off.
I know Charles Tiu is gonna whine on Twitter again later but he needs to take accountability here too. Did he tell his team to just hold onto the ball?

Viva Mapua!
It's a mental thing. CSB chokes under pressure and physicality. Same thing happened when they were favored against Letran in the finals a couple of years ago. I see Charles Tiu hasn't fixed this yet.

This team can shoot in the perimeter when needed. I mean against beda, ancheta basically won thembthat game with that clutch 3. Its just one of those days where their shots wouldnt go in. Lots of good looks pa nga. Its just that with the height advantage and the athletic players they have, they focus on attacking the paint.

This is a stretch and you know it. This team wouldnt be a 13 win team if what you said was true. In fact i only see you posting about csb whenever they lose lmao. Just one of those days that whatever good they did in the 1st half, wasnt enough to finish the game.
All 3 of csb's losses were games they couldve easily won, instead all losses were 6 pts combined. So in that sense you're right, its a mental thing, it shouldnt blanket what csb has done all season. While all of mapua's losses have been 7 pts or more, two have been blowouts. If you even watch closely that escamis 3 couldve been a travel but its fine. It is what is.
btw everyone knew that letran were the favorites in season 98 only reason benilde finished 1st is because letran decided to drop that last game and face lpu which was the 3rd see. Even in the finals, odds were in favor to letran.
