Anyways give this benilde team emman ojuala, their usual foreign import or even bright nwanko who sometimes trains with most of the guys in the team and i believe this benilde lineup can go toe to toe with this year's UP team. I mean system wise, what rajko and charles tiu has implemented for them is already miles ahead with what gold has done with his team. The only thing going for UP, individually, everyone can really play.
Dude is acting like liwag doesnt exist lmao. Play turco and liwag together while having both eusebio and sanchez on the wings while ynot at the point and we'll see who's gonna get eaten at the boards lol. Everyone in this 5 for csb can haul their own boards, now for up besides qmb, who's gonna grab em haha nobody else is hardworking enough.

I mean sige ill put it in another context nu faced a couple of kbl teams in pre season. They didnt win once if im not mistaken. Benilde was able to beat miguel oczon's kbl team who was clearly big in almost every position. That same kbl team handed multiple double digit defeats to NU this preseason.

Yeah, i think that mobis team faced nu 4-5 times and got blown out 4 or 5 times lmao. Heck even up lost to them a couple of times. So yeah lets not downgrade one league just to say your point.

        • As someone mentioned, NU, who is in bottom 4 of uaap, comments about they can top the ncaa tells you something about the level of the league.

No offense to alumnis of ncaa schools here..

no i don't think it necessarily reflects the level of the ncaa. it's more reflective of how they are probably undestimating the ncaa or overvaluing the uaap.

although i do think it's unfair to compare the ncaa and uaap when half/more than half of the uaap schools are backed by multi-billionaire sponsors. more money brings you better access to the shiniest prospects and facilities, allows them to travel as much as they want to so on and so forth. however, this doesn't necessarily mean they are running the more superior programs. i think a lot of ncaa teams are probably utilizing their budget more efficiently than some of these moneyed UAAP schools.

I wanna see them try tho. As ive said the way the ncaa teams play this year, i dont think they'll even reach the finals. In even playing field with or without fsa's. Ncaa teams can compete with uaap. Sometimes its not about having the shiny recruits but its how you use em. Most of the ncaa teams have leveled up their coaching.

Exactly this. Those that understimate the league clearly havent watched any games lately and just stuck on their own with uaap. Come to think of it im more impressed with the scouts of ncaa teams since they really have to work double in sourcing talent. Whereas in the other league, you just need a fat wallet to get players. Comes off lazy if were being honest. And ast i check besided the filfors, where does the uaap get players? Ncaa jrs right, how about studs like jacob cortez, where did he make a name for himself again? Lol.

not only am i impressed with the ncaa scouts who normally are left to pick amongst the "leftovers", ncaa skills coaches are able to turn these unwanted prospects into decent collegiate players and pros. and that's despite them working with a limited budget.

And sometimes these players not only turn out to be decent, but so good that even these so called 'superior' uaap teams pirate them to their teams. I mean if ncaa is really that inferior why do these uaap teams keep poaching top talents from the ncaa both in jrs and srs level.

i agree with you, pretty hard to compare both leagues with one another when in one league, most of the teams are being funded by big sponsors. In the ncaa you only have 2-3 teams that have significant funding.

                    • I can see CSB and SBU making it to UAAP final four.. they have the personnel to match up some of uaap teams.

What ruined the image of NCAA is the shenanigans on the court..

That and marketability. I dont think gma is doing good job of marketing ncaa. But let not act like uaap also had their fair share of shenanigans.

But I miss the old days when they were with studio 23 or s&a. Nowadays, what really gives life to the league and its team, ironically is the quality of games. Wether no lead is safe or both team really going at it. Anybody can beat anybody unlike in the other league you already know which teams will play in the finals.

that's a cop out answer. didn't the uaap just had it's second spitgate episode?

also, isn't the pba dying because of terrible parity in their league? isn't the same thing happening in the uaap right now? the season hasn't started and people already know who the finalists will be. that imo should be more damaging to a league's image.

Wasnt there an fsa in the other league that got ejected for taunting twice, thus leading his team to lose how many games and disqualifying him for awards lol thats worse than hurting someone in my opinion hahaha

Agree. I love the physicality of NCAA. It’s way better than UAAP. It’s something that you will never see in UAAP. But NCAA has to do measures to stop on and off-court violence. It has been the problem of the league ever since. That’s the reason why Ateneo and La Salle left.

Also, the boardroom backstabbing of some NCAA member schools has to be addressed as well. I know all member schools are rivals but camaraderie is one of NCAA’s goal why they created the league right? That’s the reason why NCAA has not evolved the way UAAP had. I mean UAAP have issues as well but they are doing a pretty good job of handling those controversies compared to how NCAA handles their own. It’s something that I admire about UAAP. They have differences, but they try to resolve it in a fair manner. Well, really fair compared to how NCAA handles their own. Good example is how they handled Topex’s spitting incident compared to how NCAA handled that MU mauling incident.

If they could address those issues, NCAA could become a great league again.

basketball is a physical sport. naturally people would get emotional during games regardless of league.

if ncaa viewership is down, it's not because of the supposed bad boy image of the ncaa. doesn't that shit sell amongst the target demographic of philippine basketball? it's probably something else. maybe it's the way they are marketed. but the product, especially the last 2 years, have been great. down to the wire games. high scoring games. underdogs beating favorites.

meanwhile in the uaap, they just unleashed a 45-37 masterpiece of a game between two teams that are both final 4 contenders.
