This san beda loss highlights the holes in their team. A consistent go to guy other than sajonia and andrada. This where calimag and payosing should have stepped up. A lack of good interior presence, that can help stretch the floor especially when the perimeter shots arent falling. Lastly the over reliance on the system, similar to the blazers game, eac did a solid job of defending them, often relying on 2nd chance pts (15 to 8 advantage). They also need to take care of the ball, they had 17 that led to 15 pts for eac. Looks like the lost of Jacob Cortez and Cliff Jopia still stings for them.

Yup too much reliance on the system. This is the problem since last year when SBU lost like 6 straight. And again was amplified this preseason.
Sometimes Yuri should go off script and play thru his players strengths.
This game is a goner for them. And will sting for a long time because of how lopsided this loss is going to be.

Tagle was one of the more consistent shooters in the preseason. But was not the same player after the US training. It’s like his mind is not focused on basketball at all.
Kyle Jamora will be a good player next year. He was the closer in Team B games last year. Even edging out Estacio and Dinaculangan in playing time. High IQ player, does not take a lot of shots and a reliable defender.

CSB seems miles ahead of the competition at this point of the season…
Meanwhile, San Beda seems still at the “figuring out” stage. This could be an effect of the late decision for its final lineup. I mean, during the offseason, you rarely see them play together…time will tell whether they would be able to peak through the long season…but with the close gaps between all the teams, you need to jack up wins early in the season…

San Beda started late. They gave an extended vacation to the Team A guys who won the crown. Then we had the Payosing holdout. SBU’s first practice (combined Team A and B) was early February. By that time CSB was miles ahead in terms of chemistry. And knee surgeries of Lina and Tolentino complicated things further for SBU’s S100 preparations.

Because CSB started preparing earlier. Their core players today are their Team B from last year. They started with the AsiaBasket last year. Then continued with the PSL stint in January with Sanchez and Ynot in the MPBL. In that same month CSB lent Liwag and Sanchez for SGA’s stint in the Dubai Invitational.

Csb started as soon as the core this season moved in last year and that was by april or may. While csb team A was playing in Filoil, team B composed of the transferees played for pinoyliga as both tourneys coincided with one another. Charles tiu even played Sangco, Cajucom, Serrano, Jarque, morales, arciaga with that same team B so even by then their chemistry was already developing with their future teammates in team a this season. So by the time they played in asiabasket, they atleast have an idea what their roles were already.
