Looks like it's LPU who is going to be at the bottom this season. They have 2 players with spinal injury, 1 still playing and the other one might miss the whole season. Barba should be really careful now.

Why do they allow injured players (spine) to play? A bit dangerous to play with fire

Are is the leading candidate for MVP at this point, leading Baste to back to back wins. Wonder if any UAAP vultures will come circling for him.

I think it’s a possibility for a UAAP team to get him but it’s too early to tell for now. Even online, a lot of people think he could be pirated by UAAP.

But Baste is well funded now and Are would be needed to lead the incoming recruits come season 101. So I’m sure Baste will make a counter offer to keep him.

Also, I think Are is 22 or 23 now. So he’s going to be one and done if he transfers unlike in Baste where he could play 2 more years after this season.

Is this bravo and guadana? I believe them along with barba has until season 101 pa. But all three were expected to lead the team after enoch valdez' graduation and Umali and Omandac's sudden transfers.

With Are's emergence, along with Liwag and Ynot's growth as players even guys like escamis, gurtiza and capulong who are also leading their teams, all former SGL holders, did ncaa make the right move of banning SGL in future seasons?

Personally, the upside of a player's development is what makes me for it, but it does have other pros and cons as well.

There's already a grade requirement in NCAA, they just need to pass 60%, now i dont know about the other schools, but benilde does have its own standard, anyone who fails a subject has to sit out. Fortunately for the players, they are pretty lenient when it comes to setting up their course load for the term. For student athletes its only 15 units, if they're on their last academic year, it can go as low as 9 or 12 units. Not to mention most of the profs are pretty understanding, they always give them makeup quizzes and exams and gives the athletes a chance to catchup, but of course no freebies haha.

Personally i welcome the sgl thing, im fan of it developing a player's on court ability and gives them valuable experience. Not all teams are like beda that has their annual US Trip or like benilde that can join any tourney they want wether pro or semi pro. For some players the sgl is their only chance to really work on their game, and imo its better for them to play there than in panalay games where theres less authority and mostly anything goes. But of course it has to be regulated, like you said there should be a more stringent grade requirement for those planning to apply for the sgl, like their grades has to be 75, maybe 80% for them to qualify so that those guys would still prioritize their studies.

For me, I think NCAA has made the wrong decision of banning SGL. It’s a big help on player’s development. No doubt about it. And not all NCAA schools compensate their big stars. That’s why transfers to UAAP happen. And all the top recruits mostly go to UAAP. By having SGL, NCAA players could earn extra. So that’s our advantage to UAAP and in return, that’s one reason for other top recruits to consider NCAA.

And since UAAP gets the top recruits, we could go toe to toe with them by improving our players. And those improvement could come from exposing them to semi pro leagues.

I dont think theres residency if he's going to the uaap as a grad student. Its like the troy rike route except that he's coming from a local school. If his age makes him still eligible, then he can play as one and done right away. Problem is we dont know how old he is really.

Oh is that the rule? A player doesn’t need to undergo residency if it’s post grad? Is that rule same with NCAA?

Not sure about the ncaa, but for the uaap, the troy rike rule allows a one and done player to suit up immediately assuming that someone is coming in as a post grad student athlete from a non member school to a member school provided that he isnt overaged. Most recent case of this is UP's Quentin Millora Brown. However if im not mistaken there hasnt been a case of ncaa to uaap transfer going with that route since almost everyone who graduates in the ncaa, will be overaged if they try to move pa in the uaap
