Lets see if the ncaa teams can attract more high caliber players. Most of these benchwarmers and perenial team b guys are really good too, they just need an opportunity to shine. Not to mention these uaap teams will probably scoop up ncaa's best brightest naman ala jacob cortez.
Agree with this but I think totally removing the residency is too much. I think it would be better for NCAA to go ahead and implement their plan to have a 1 sem residency coming from other leagues.

Though both the NCAA and UAAP play at the same time, the NCAA could still take advantage of that 1 sem residency since there is a 1 sem gap before the next season commences. So let’s say we’re at 2024 season and a UAAP player is currently playing for the 2024 season and he decides to transfer to NCAA after playing the 2024 UAAP season. He can already play by 2025 NCAA season provided that he enrolled during the 2nd sem school calendar to the NCAA school of his choosing.

Either plans could work. Both i do get where you and op is coming from. Ncaa needs to brace themselves of uaap teams poaching top talents from the league. That rule change will have a domino effect not only affecting their league. Laxing on residency should help ease the eventuality.

Lets say for example Nygel Gonzales suddenly breaks out this season for beda. Whats stopping ateneo, la salle and other uaap schools from poaching him, and if he leaves, beda is suddenly left without another superstar. By easing on residency requirements; beda could conviniently recruit another uaap talent maybe the likes of Nu's tebol garcia for instance, the lure of him immediately playing and being the focal point of their offense may make him move. Thus solving beda's hole almost overnight, and the beauty of either your suggestion is that both will end up helping beda with their loss.

Exactly! We really can’t stop UAAP from getting our star players. And since they are making a mess on their residency rule, why don’t we take advantage of it by providing a solution of getting their role players who could be main guys in the NCAA and allowing them to play instantly. The opportunity just presented itself, I hope the NCAA takes a swift action.

Problem is it will be tough convincing them to play for a non SBU, CSB, Letran , Mapua team. Most of the recruits will flock to these schools. Same schools who adjusted well to the FSA ban.

I do hope the NCAA takes advantage because it will also impact other sports like womens volleyball.

The Lady Blazers are undefeated in the last couple of years, but I dont think they would even make it in the final 4 if they played in the UAAP.

              Sir Sikatrix,

              I totally agree.

that's the nature of the business

but if those network personnel and stakeholders had the passion and yearning for Philippine Sports

they will do all the necessary marketing game plan in the same breath as they've doing on that k-pop showbiz thing

Filipinos don't understand the language of those Koreans but because of the marketing strategies of this mainstream media

they can sell anything about showbiz, low level telenovelas and k-pop "kahit 99% hindi maintindihan ang sinasabi"

I do hope they could do the same game plan on Philippine Sports

those media peeps had the influence and brains to sell things out of nothing "kahit di po maintindihan ng madla"

if they can do that, surely tv ratings for Sports will rise but unfortunately "it is a half-baked concern".

              • We can't really stop a player if it wants to leave. Theres too many talent out there and there are only 8 uaap schools. The NCAA's top 4 can be competitive in the UAAP. The only advantage is that the uaap schools have fsa. Give Sbu or Csb a 6'8 fsa and it will be a f4 team in the uaap.

Other schools chould catch up to them in terms of recruitment. Some schools now have their own backers like EAC with jumbo plastic. Ssc has cocolife, prolly the reason why they were able to get ashon andrews as ust also have cocolife as a sponsor.

And most of these schools also have connections due to their coaches. Perps has olsen racela who has ties to his former school FEU, his brother's school adamson and the smc connection with ust. I mean they nabbed lots of uaap transferees(ue, nu, ust, feu guys) during the last few months. Arellano has that Nu pipeline due to chico manabat being buddy buddy with jeff napa. Same goes to jru with nu assistant coach glenn capacio also serving as a coach. Lpu naman with gilbert malabanan has his former boss topex from dlsu.

Yeah that could work as well, just dont want uaap to get our best players, and ncaa become a farm league for them

They really pushing this look til the team wins one huh? Haha imo they should have gone with the black jerseys they were using last year, or atleast the preseason ones. This is basically a new team, they deserve a new look.
