Last year 2023, CSB was the title favorites despite SBU having the better preseason (DLeague finalists). Maybe because of their intact core coming back together.

Last year preseason 2023, Mapua had a poor showing. But surprised everyone come NCAA with the best record in the elims. Everyone counted them out despite an intact core plus an incoming Clint Escamis.

Last year i already had mapua as my dark horse, the moment i saw escamis play in the preseason, i knew he was their missing link especially a team that was only lacking a playnaker besides bonifacio and hernandez. I think the other surprising teams last year were EAC and JRU, Eac because only the coach changed from a 3 win team while jru retained mostly its intact core that only won 2 in its last 11 games.

This year my darkhorse would be letran. Still dont have them as my top 4 yet since its stil beda mapua csb and eac for me but if one those teams fall, letran will have to be in the top 4. Most surprising naman will be arellano. I think theyll shock a lot of teams in season 100, most of chico's recruits will already play and backing them up are solid holdovers in ongotan and capulong.

ContendIng teams this year shouldnt be that many. Perps lost a ton of their guys, so is JRU who will be without top guys Miranda, dionisio and arenal and baste who has a whole new coaching staff. Im also not sure of LPU this year, they dont really look like a final 4 team. I dont think Guadania is ready to lead this team yet, umali is a big loss for them.

Benilde will only go as far as their hunger to win grows. Out of all the contenders, they have the most to prove. Beda with their problems in the offseason, will still be beda when it comes to the ncaa. For me they're just one piece away from solidifyiny their position. Mapua even without bonifacio and hernandez will still be deadly with escamis. While eac will finally debut their own transferees all of whom should replace the production of maguiliano and robin.

Csb should have the deepest team come season 100. Players 1 to 15 are all starter quality and Coach Charles should have no problem rotating and plugging them when needed.

They'll prolly have one of the tallest teams. Bigs: liwag 6'6 turco 6'7 serrano 6'5 arciaga 6'5; Stretch 4's Eusebio 6'5, Sanchez 6'5 Sangco 6'4 galas 6'4; wings jarque 6'4 ondoa 6'3 oli 6'2 carillo 6'2

Most of the guys also can also play and defend multiple positions. Probably the most athletic as well. Personally when this team is complete, i cant see anyone beating them in the ncaa as they can play and defend in any style they want. They can run or slow it down. They can pound the paint, hit those middies or jack up those 3's. They move the ball well and the system is working. You can tell when even selfish guys like ynot and sanchez give up their shots to setup their teammates who's in better position to score. On defense they'll press you, man to man you with solid individual defenders or zone you if you cant score in the paint. They already won multiple tourneys, and placed well in others. Thats why expectations for these team should be through the roof.

        • I thought we were the ones who were counted out by the pundits. Everyone was expecting CSB to be the Champs and Mapua, Lyceum and Perpetual as contenders. Everyone was ridiculing Clifford Jopia and Damie Cuntapay, even from.our ranks

            • Benilde salvages 3rd place in asiabasket beating a vj pre-less feu team. Pretty obvious that both team were exhausted at this point especially the blazers who came from back to back overtime games. Both team also played shorthanded. Besides the jones cup guys, sanchez, ancheta, sangco ondoa and jarque didnt suit up. Eusebio again with timely baskets, he's really developing into a go to guy. Hope charles tiu gives him more opportunities.

Still it always feels great to beat a UAAP team, even sweeter that somehow they got that revenge win. So far benilde's performance since last year(with the core of season 100 blazers):

                -Asiabasket Dasma: Champions
-PSL Presidents cup(mostly semi pro teams): Quarterfinals (top 8)
                -Pinoyliga Next Man cup: Champions
-Filoil Preseason cup: 2nd in ncaa standing, Quarterfinals (loss by buzzer beater to feu)
-Pinoyliga Collegiate: 0-3 (took over from ateneo, mostly played bench guys and those having residency)
                -Ormoc Pina Cup: 2nd Place
-Asiabasket International: 3rd Place (loss by 1 point against adamson in the semis)

so far csb is performing even better than last offseason. They still have one tourney to join in Manila's Best against a mix of ncaa, uaap, ucal etc teams. Hopefully they can sustain momentum towards season 100.

I think they'll be taking part pa in pinoyliga's march madness style tourney. Thats for next month i believe. Hope all teams bring along their best lineups there.

                  • Red Lions to fly to the States for their annual training. Some team officials like Jude Roque and Norman Black have been there for like a week.

                        • If he cant get the job done..Then why focus the resources in recruiting abroad. The money used by CJR to travel might as well go to the players fund either for recruitment or additional allowance.

I was told Jalbuena made the trip. WTF!

How many eligibility years does Eusebio have left? The thing is Tiu seems to favor Sanchez and gives him more playing time over Eusebio.

He'll have 3 years left. As for him and sanchez, i think he prefers eusebio of the bench to give a boost to the second unit. He'll have his chance leading the 2nd stringers along with torres. For the starters kasi, expect ynot and liwag to get most of the chances.

I think Jalbuena’s inclusion is merited naman. He can bring the ball down, sometimes licensed if the guards are pressured. He can shoot the three as shown in the preseason. He fits the Yuri system where tall guys are skilled and can shoot.

The surprise is Miles Culdora. He’s also a big kid that can play the perimeter with multiple skills. More natural than Jalbuena because he grew up being trained to play the guard position.
