Freshman of the year awardee and Letran Knight Stephen Garupil moves to JRU.
UE HS guard Mark Sarza joins Letran.
Letran's just too loaded at the guards now. Good move for him moving there since starting guards argente and ramos only have a couple of playing years left
San Beda will face Arellano in the NCAA U16 (Kiddies) Championship on Sunday.
Arellano defeated LPU in the semis. While SBU defeated the Staglets. LPU has a 6’8 big boy named Eoin Braga. The kid is good and will be a name to look out for in the future.
Red Cubs U16 are led by guards Dwayne Nonato, Madi Altamirano and starting center 6’5 Mark San Buenaventura.
PH strikes gold at 21st ASEAN University Games Basketball Finals
Team Philippines, represented by Mapua University’s Men’s Basketball Team, clinched gold after a convincing victory against Malaysia in the 21st ASEAN University Games 5x5 Men’s Basketball Finals in Indonesia.
The Cardinals dictated the pace of the game by securing an early lead and pulling away in the latter frames to ultimately defeat Malaysia by a 29-point lead, 93-64.
The team showcased a flawless campaign, staying undefeated throughout the entire tourney. This victory adds one more gold to the Philippines’ current haul of two.
I wonder if formosa will bring along their 5 imports for this tourney and if they're allowed to play more than 1 at a time. Pretty interesting to see how formidable these international teams are against local collegiate teams. In the last asiabasket international tourney, Benilde and Beda both reached the semis with 2 malaysian teams(tho mostly composed of pro and national team players).
Is the filam team related to to filam nation?
Phenom Bluefire is basically DLSU/CSB team B as bluefire of the Reyes's sponsors both lasallian teams and Phenom might lend a couple of its guys in both teams for this.
Csb wont have charles tiu and Rajko toroman along ynot and liwag. Interesting to see if they'll tap ojuala again who's been joining the practices again recently.
1:00 CSB v Formosa Taiwan
3:00 Adamson v Mapua
5:00 DKI Jakarta v San Beda
7:00 NU v Phenom BlueFire
Groupings:
Group A: NU, CSB, Formosa, Phenom and Lakas California
Grouo B Adamson, FEU, San Beda, Mapua and DKI Jakarta
Round Robin, Top 4 in each group will advance to crossover semifinals.
Looks like Group A is the group of death, i feel like na taiwanese team is the top dog especially if the organizers allow their team to play all 5 imports. NU and CSB imo are evenly matched on paper but since their will be no liwag and ynot, while cometa is still recovering from his injury. NU might come as the top two, maybe even the best in the competition. While Phenom will apparently field a mix of pros and collegiate guys in their team, maybe comprised of those applying in the pba draft to showcase them and of course an import. And then the group still has pretty much unkown team from california.
For Group B, Indonesian team might me the best while both uaap teams might have a favorable matchup against ncaa teams if both beda and mapua do go all filipino.
Predictions:
Group A:
1. NU
2. Formosa
3. CSB
4. Phenom
5. Lakas
Group B
1. DKI
2. FEU
3. San Beda
4. Adamson
5. Mapua
