Careful, you might get called out by the UP fans here LOL. To be fair, he didn't play six years in college, but he should have been ineligible this year. In any case, his and UP's decision I feel did more harm than good to their program anyway.

I don't see any reason why UP would try hard to win their last game against UE. What for? It's the perfect opportunity to set up a final four clash between DLSU and UE.

      • UP's wings are all about trying to get theirs instead of feeding QMB and their bigs for easy buckets. Alarcon, Abadiano, and that midget Felicilda hero ball a lot. This will be UP's downfall in the Final Four.

I meant 6 seasons, rather. As far as I remember, his rookie year was the S82. S82 – S87 add up to 6 playing seasons, including the residency, but anyway.

Cagulangan also hero balls a lot. Great when it works (in Season 84 and in this game against FEU), but then you also get games like the recent DLSU game when he tried to do everything by himself.

UP can’t rely on just QMB in the final four and finals. They need to get their other big men more reps. Their back up big men played a combined 13 minutes in a non bearing game, with Alter not playing at all. No wonder they’re all rusty when used in crucial games.

            • If Cabonillas and Burgos chose the path that VJ Pre and JR Pasaol took by staying in the Tamaraw program, FEU could be a Final Four team next year.

              • UP shot 14/37 from 3 pt land. Good for 38%. Seems like that narrative they cant shoot nor do they have capable shooters isn't true at all.

For reference, UP averages around 24 3pt FGA based on the stats I dug up.

You can call this a fluke but I say UP simply adjusted as evident in the volume of shots they took.

Well, they can't shoot from 3 against DLSU. It's four straight games now.

DLSU's length and size clearly bothers their guards. Not an issue for them against other teams.

You say that but their number of 3 PT FGAs against DLSU is identical to their attempts vs. rest of the league.

I lean towards this is an adjustment. However, more sample size is needed to further support the claim.

Also, matchups are out of their control and it shouldn't discount the statement that they can shoot the three. If a team does a better job defending the 3 than others, that's not because of UP's lack of shooting skills. That should be a credit to DLSU's defense.

I mean I get that feeding QMB inside seems like the easiest option for UP but it's not like QMB is a dominating inside scorer. His fundamentals are top notch but from what I've watched, I haven't seen post moves like a Manzano or even a Manaytay.

What was very noticeable on the game earlier was that UP was taking their threes early during their possessions. Very few extra passes and just shot the ball whenever they were open.

                        • In the NBA the commentators always say the best 3pt looks are in transition and after offensive rebounds. ADMU made a killing of that from Ange those types of looks arent as often if you cant get stop / turnovers plus rebounds

                          • just want to ask if there are any good recruits that will be joining ADMU next season? seriously they need to step up in their recruitments.

                            • At the rate this second game is going, UST will make it to the final four and be seeded third, regardless of what happens in the next games (they have a higher quotient over UE in case of a tie).

UP-UST matchup will be interesting but I don’t think UST can take it to a rubber match.

UP now has to decide—- should it give UE a free pass to the final four against DLSU?

Yup, hence why I lean towards an adjustment rather than a fluke game.
