Yes still in HS. He was part of NU-Clark roster which participated in Anta 4 x 4 tournament back in mid Aug.

I wonder if he's the 4th FSA that an insider here was talking about that's under negotiations with DLSU.

What we know is Mason is with DLSU and it was first choice given his family's ties.
Add the the fact that he trained with Phenom Sports, who happens to be closely linked to DLSU (unsure if theyre now employed as assistant coaches).

CJ was Batang Gilas before. Hopefully the youngest gets to represent PH too.
Yeah CJ played for BG U18 this year.

I hope the youngest brother gets Mason's height or taller.

      • Any update on the Sage Tolentino competition? haha Bo Perasol should offer the moon to the the Tolentinos because Stevens, Ududo, Gagate, and Alter are not going to give UP the crown.

Even if UP does get him, he will not be able to play right away. He is going to be considered a transferree who will need one-year residency. This is not like a QMB situation, since QMB has already completed his degree (and Tolentino has not).

So they need a big man to fill the hole that QMB will leave next season and I am not sure the ones they have now are going to cut it.

EDIT: I just checked and Sage is playing for UNC-Asheville now.

Gagate was hitting a couple of threes in their matchup against DLSU but for whatever reason Team B wasn't finding him much and often. He still doesn't have an off the dribble game either.

But yes, I agree, UP, even with all the money and highly rated acquisitions, still does not have a formidable front court. They're just OK.

The arrival of QMB has impacted the development of those bigs.

Udodo and Alter weren't bad in the pre-season before QMB arrived. They just lack game minutes.

Ududo was actually getting double doubles for guang ming before moving to up against uaap teams with fsa's in both filoil and pinoyliga last year. Dude is decent, just doesnt have the experience or the minutes yet to truly thrive in the uaap. I think he has higher ceiling than nnoruka.

devils advocate question so the ncaa was right in banning fsa’s for development? Cause Stevens, Udodo and Alter have taken a step back heck 7 was cut

I dunno. To answer the question, it depends if a team allows more mobile bigs that measure 6'6"-6'8" to play like a forward, even from the 5-spot.

I think our best bigs should play the 4 at the most, unless they're around the size of June Mar, Kai, AJ, or QMB. To do that, as a rule, I think an FSA big is still necessary.

UP just overloaded on bigs while playing small ball (when Gani's not the 4).

His only assets are his ability to shoot lights out and size for his position. He can't dribble, defend, pass or rebound. Needs more seasoning.

Nope. Up just has too many quality guys in the position for them actually play long enough to find their rythm. Their 'system' also negates them from really maxmizing their potential. Give those guys enough minutes and im sure they'll be able to figure out what should work for them and what should not. By taking away fsa's in the ncaa. Teams not named benilde or san beda are forced to play 6'4 and above guys strictly as centers, while in some cases even guys as short as 6'1 or 6'2 are playing in the post. Imo guys those size should atleast get used to playing in the wings if they want career beyond mpbl.
