Every great basketball program has to rebuild at some point. Did you actually expect Ateneo to win championships forever? lol

Heck, even La Salle had to wait for for someone like KQ to win another chip after Ben Mbala's departure.

    • You can rebuild but schools like Dlsu and admu can’t get last place on the standings. Heck they should always be decent

La Salle never sucked this bad. Even in the seasons they didnt made the final four they were a 5-7 win team and always remain in contention until the last playing date of the elims

And honestly, La Salle’s roster every season is always good enough to reach the final four. It’s the coaching instability and offcourt drama that causes their downfall. Now wittu coach Topex there appears to be a change in culture that will set them up for sustained success

La Salle's "dark ages" is actually the years prior to Topex, but I agree that roster wasn't the problem. Imagine having what... 4 coaching changes in that span? It's difficult for players to have to adjust to a new system that often, it's a wonder there were not a lot of transfers out from the team in that period.

Worst record since they joined UAAP is 5-9 (good enough for 6th place in all those instances it happened).

Include as well 2009-2011 seasons as the first dark age.

Yes, now you see player development as veteran players dont get cut after two seasons. Before you hardly see Archers play full five tears as they get replaced by rookies who will follow the same cycle if another bluchip recruit comes in.

sky jazul of ateneo and kallos should be invited for future BG teams..

                daep is around 17-18

                UE is still undefeated..
                Good Day Sir SK,

                thanks for the info.

                very much appreciated.

                in my own personal observation

sky and kallos are promising but need more ripening

as for that Daep kid he is already ripe for the picking

if he is now in the 17 to 18 yr. old bracket

well we do hope he is still cover for the next U18 batch

                age category.

                • La Salle's worst days in recent memory was the Bader Malabes era.

Ateneo has won 10 chips since 2000. It's the most successful program in the past 24 years yet casuals claim La Salle's program is better. lol

How many chips did La Salle win since 2000? Six. Yeah, La Salle's program is really superior to Ateneo's. lol

Yet Ateneo has 10 chips since the 2000s. The most by any program this century. Season 87 for Ateneo is like having the top student in class who scored badly on one exam.

The UAAP is not a random number generator. There are reasons why Ateneo is failing and those reasons are within there control.

The UAAP is about winning chips. Ateneo has won the most number of chips this century by any UAAP team with 10. Numbers don't lie.

For those that turned pro, dont think its ateneo's fault. Those guys believed that they are ready and tab and ateneo wont stand in their way in chasing their pro dreams. What i do fault them is the poor succession plan. They couldve done 2 things that could have help them avoid this nightmare season. One is if they would have built up their jrs team, same way nu, feu and adamson did, i mean even ue and ust have also done so recently then even if they had a hard time getting solid prospects, atleast they would have their own they can call up. After kai and lopez's batch, only porter if im not mistaken has been a blue chip recruit. Another is they need to adapt to the times and start recruiting or getting transfers locally. Most of the filfors they recruited outside of the blue chippers have been non factors for the team. Some didnt even make team A. They have the funds so maybe its time to invest in recruiting locally.

                            • To further drive home the point of the sheer dominance of the Ateneo program since the 2000s, they've had 1 5-peat and one three-peat during this period. So to the doomers on this board, just sit down. Ateneo will be fine.

AHS has not been a good pipeline for them for several years now. Who were the last impactful AHS players? Nieto and Ildefonso?

NU and Adamson are not really good examples for building up their Juniors teams, as most of their Juniors stars move to other colleges anyway. FEU is the only one in recent times whose HS stars stay for their college teams.
