"A king may move a man, a father may claim a son, but that man can also move himself, and only then does that man truly begin his own game. Remember that howsoever you are played or by whom, your soul is in your keeping alone, even though those who presume to play you be kings or men of power, when you stand before God, you cannot say, 'But I was told by others to do thus,' or that virtue was not convenient at the time. This will not suffice." - King Baldwin IV

While it may sound like crying over spilled milk, Bahay having Amos as his screener would've done wonders to this Ateneo offense as the defense will not be able to double off of the latter. So far, Ateneo has been shooting 4/22 (18%), 4/23 (17%) and 4/27 (14.8%). That's just not gonna cut it, specially considering that they lack the size and that go-to-guy in the mold of Thirdy/Ildefonso who can create their own offense out of nothing.

I maintain that they will be competitive in games, specially in the beginning, but will falter in the end - for the first round at least. If the rookies and sophomores grow up, they might solve it by the 2nd round, but it just might be too late.

Regarding Ateneo's need for a go-to-guy, Kieffer, play for your dad! Haha
Now im worried Ateneo will be like Leo Austrias final Adamson team: competitive, but never getting the win

      • Mike will be playable in Asia. He is the bigger Pingris and he has youth on his side so he can learn and improve. His good attitude will be his key just like Ping.

He needs to learn Pingris' "Diskarte" and "Gulang".

          • Henry Agunanne last night was just a nightmare to watch; unable to catch the ball, always getting the ball tapped away on the low post and just a step slow on defense. Still slightly above Victor Balogun, but if La Salle is aiming for a back-to-back, then Agunanne needs to play better. Seems he is distracted by the UAAP game and hype.

            • I had a chance to watch the game of ADU vs. Uste yesterday

and I would say two players that caught my attention so far was

former Enderun's 6'5 Anthony Fransman and 6'4 Chase Lane

I like the length of those lads esp. AJ whom I think is improving since his Enderun days

a good prospect for that 2 spots 2-way guys his defensive timing and that strokes are quite balance

and there's a lot room for improvement

as for Chase as usual his a speedster and also his defensive timing is worth watching as well

despite majority of his shots are not falling for now, I like the work rate and intangibles of both dudes

I agree on some degree that Uste had a strong chance for that final 4 but it's still depend on

coach Fireman and his coaching staff on how to motivate his boys considering they had a good FSA now

honestly, majority of those colegiala girls from Uste and Adu are simply beautiful and sexy

that's for now, I'm biting my tongue now, peace po mods I'm just a hopeless romantic dude...hehehe.

                • UP and DLSU are so far ahead of the competition this year, I find the UAAP already boring to watch.

And Torculas has not yet played for UP, while Austria has not yet played for DLSU (both injured).

                      • Anyone following UAAP u16 tournament?

With the rise of social media, connecting with potential talent from anywhere in the world has become just a click away. This modern convenience is making an impact on varsity recruitment as well. Take, for example, the case of University of the East Junior Warriors Under-16 head coach Andrew Estrella who discovered 14-year-old Goodluck Okebata […]

                        • My question is what happened to the dominant FSAs that we've all grown accustomed to? The process afaik is they grade each African athlete based on their talent and rank them to the appropriate level of basketball they'll play at. Is it just that there is more demand for them at a higher level with bigger budgets hence what we're now left with are runts?

                          • Momowei is pretty good, he’s just in the wrong team.

                            • One thing i noticed is that lately, the talent level of our locals has grown significantly higher than seasons past. Locals are becoming more skilled, and a lot have even grown taller. Teams no longer need to scout and recruit dominant fsas, since our locals could carry the slack. As long as the guy is capable, coachable, and athletic, they can roll the dice on him. Tas teams can move funds they can save from these fsas onto blue chippers or filfors who should be gamechangers for their teams.

That's the beauty of bringing in FSAs, foreign-based Filipinos and foreign coaches in the UAAP - homegrowns are learning and, in turn, benefiting from it.
