FSA is clearly not good at this point in time. Early departures and unexpected transfers (extremely late at that greatly affecting the offseason prep) really decimated the the team. Hopefully, they get their groove back by the 2nd round to at least try and compete for a final 4 slot.
Even assuming that the late departures did not happen, I am surprised at the poor succession planning. Assuming that Balunggay had stayed, for example, this would have been his last playing year. But who would have been his "replacement" in Season 88?

They have someone in residency, 6'8 kymani ladi. But i think the lack of solid recruits from ahs is starting to catch up to them. Imo they need to rebuild the hs program again, do what FEU has been doing. Especially if they continue to recruit with a strict academic requirement that may turn off blue chip recruits. Atleast guys coming from ahs already knows whats expected of them if they continue on the seniors.

ateneo won championships with homegrown talents they have.. been together since juniors to seniors that won tab some championship..

transition of lead PG’s could’ve been good had padrigao behave himself..

For Season 88, it would've been

          Y2 Balogun
          Y3 Amos
          Y1 Ladi
          Y5 Lazaro
          Y2 Porter

          Pretty solid lineup there.

Ateneo lost Chiu, Balunggay, Amos for this year. That's a lot of height and minutes to make up for.

Demisana too if he decided to work on his grades and kyle ong for added depth.

            • I think the poor recruitment and exodus of players from Ateneo is a telling sign that Tab might be on his way out. And Im actually starting to believe that the rumor of him going to Converge might actually come true.

what if SGA takes over the red warriors, tab joins SGA. UE gets tab?

I dont think that will happen since Jacob Lao is an Atenean and SGA are already funding Benilde (NCAA), Manila (MPBL) and in some capacity Converge (PBA).

That will only happen if ue management moves on from jack santiago which isnt happening soon. And as long as he's around, sga wont touch the srs program and unfortunatly for them, it means a disconnected jrs and srs team. If you ntocie their lineup there's no rookie from their jrs team, most came from mapua and arellano. While their jrs players that graduated are now with letran who is also currently being handled by sga.

Add letran to that as well. Along with 2 jrs teams, 3 pro vball teams, and 3 collegiate vball teams.

                      • lol at the cliff jumpers here regarding Ateneo. That team just won the chip two seasons ago and ya'll act like Ateneo's program is in complete disarray. Ateneo will be fine. Their program has been excellent since the early 2000s and I couldn't remember them having a losing season since.

In terms of talent this has to be the leanest Tab coached team, but coaching and system can go a ling way (i.e. Rajko Toroman’s Barako Bulls)

admu still a favorite for the 4th spot, with ust, feu and adu

                          • KQ added a more polished and confident pullup jumper this season. He looks like he'll definitely be able to stick to the international stage.

Dungo making an impact was not a surprise but him turning into a shooter is a pleasant surprise for DLSU. To think, he was the one who approached Topex to play for DLSU right after a UAAP Jrs game. I guess it shows that kids really bought into what Topex is: a player's coach.

that KQ pull-up with his height and how high he jumps on it is a weapon of cuts. He can’t reallly dribble since he’s upright but he’s finding ways

I dont agree with the whole narrative that he has a high dribble. It was loose but is it high relative to his height? Nope. His quick decision making with the ball has been wrongfully interpreted as he's unable to handle.

Plus, an insider showed me his workouts and they have been focused on ball handling this off season and there's been slight improvements as he's now forced to bring the ball up more.
