There's no clear advantage on size, skill and athleticism.

It is experience and BBIQ where PBA has the clear edge. And since UAAP teams have players up to their mid-20s, they will be able to match-up with the young-er PBA teams. PBA teams with a lot of top veterans will still be the most formidable if they played with purpose.
DLSU has the advantage over the other 3 teams in terms of size and athleticism. Ros has just has fuller to negate that

    • The UAAP isnt designed like the american college system wherein if you are good enough you go pro. We all know how many pro offers KQ has.

Like DLSU condemning corruption but awarding Danding Cojuangco a "LaSalle Master" award hahaha

          • Yes. Uaap schools and basketball fans must never adopt a holier-than-thou attitude. There was serious behavioral darkness that surrounded basketball patrons of even so-called "christian" schools. Some of these financial godfathers (well, godhomos too) are definitely not heaven-bound.

Uaap basketball is highly enjoyable to watch on boring days, and when you have extra beer in the ref. Trying to make sense of the money behind this sports is an exercise in futility. And disappointment.

Btw, up and dlsu can beat import-less pba teams, especially in a theoretical high-stakes series. For one, defeating the current up team in a winner-take-all series for php20 million would be difficult even for smc teams. That is one serious, no-excuses motivation. Up hasnt lost also recently against local and serbian baller clubs in its 2024 preparatory games.

It is an undeniable fact anyway that an all-pba zero-filfor gilas team coached even by cone will go down in flames against the best of asia and beyond. Pba games are highly entertaining. But to say that the quality of its games and players are exceptionally good would be a big lie. I feel that the pba is also illegally preventing naturalized filipino players from being employed. It is good that such players have no money or moral incentive to pursue a judicial win.

He’s worse than every other patron combined lol. They also have ECJ on the jerseys and fil-oil is named after him. Money can almost change all narratives

                • DLSU escapes Phoenix' attempt to come back.
The Archers are really the real deal and they come back to UAAP much more loaded this season.

Yup, its just UP's time to shine since Jonvic wants to shine on the bench.

And just looking at who converge has in its lineup, theres a reason why this team ended up with the number one pick in the draft(who also didnt play). Besides, we already know how good la salle is. If were being real UP and DLSU can beat a handful of pba teams, especially in a league where similar to uaap, there are only number of teams where the talent is concentrated.
Not to mention that La Salle already has a handful of pro-ready talents. KQ and Phillips to start. Amos can at least probably cut it as a rookie in the pros.

Which brings me to yet another measure that the PBA can look into to bolster its popularity again - find ways to have these young talents go pro early. Some will go abroad no doubt, but there is still enough talent that will enter the PBA.

In the NBA, rookies enter at (on average) 20. PBA rookies usually are betweeb 24-26 years old.

Phoenix ROS and Converge have no Gilas players. In Serbian coach Aleksandar Djordjevic words, “I think they’ve shown some talent, some quickness. But they’re always missing quality".

Even with Balti and their import I think Converge will still lose to La Salle.

Quality players are in perennially strong teams because of farming and lopsided trades.

Impressive wins but if La Salle faces SMB, Ginebra or Meralco, those games will have a +12 margin in favor of PBA teams. Still I think this should be a wake up call to the PBA. Those players should be "kuyas" to amateurs but they end up getting son-ed by Austria and La Salle.

and Jonvic offers 10M for proof of family ties to POGO. lol.

So pano na yan banned na POGO, how will Remulla fund Serbia trips of UP fighting maroons next summer.

                              • It looks like the PBA teams in this tournament are not trying that hard, more of a pre season scrimmage. While dlsu are giving their all. When the pros decided to play towards the closing minutes, they easily erased the lead and lost by a possession. But I guess come UAAP season, no team beats UP anyway, we should enjoy these “un-predictable” games now
