Him and Pre can be the 3/4 for the Tams. He can be a stretch 4 guy for them, but for sure he’ll play be the 5 sometimes.

So long as he can defend the perimeter given his length and mobility, he'll be fine, regardless if he's played on 3 or 4. Same with Pre.

If so, teams should try their best to recruit Gagate and Andres. Since they are injured, it is the best time to serve residency.

If Konov goes to UP, then this is getting out of hand… I think the most that the UAAP can do is to have a recruitment cap per team…

If UP is recruiting all this blue chips in order for other teams to have less talent, then it is a very bad move… if that is their intention, then it destroys the development of these players, because it prevents them to play significant time on court…

5 to 10 recruits are enough for a team I think and if they feel this years recruits are not worth it, release them and replace them with new ones…

Then those players that are being released should no longer do residency… and be given permission to play for another team right away… this is my humble opinion only

UP also has done it before, it”s just that they don’t have a crazy budget unlike now…they have successfully recruited players primarily because of the schools prestige…notable names such as Martin Reyes, Mikee Reyes, Mike Silungan, Mark Lopez and Soc Rivera whom FEU envisioned as the next Arwind Santos. So its not like UP haven’t got quality players before…
it’s just crazy how unlimited the budget is… La Salle and Ateneo is guilty of such but not this over the top

If UP is recruiting marque collegiate players for the purpose of augmenting its roster while preventing the other teams from augmenting their respective rosters then UP is becoming like the SMB or Ginebra team. And its not really good for player development. Look at UP's current pool, subrang lalim na ng pool of talent. Some players could not get the playing time & the oprtunity to show their skills & capabilities. Something which these players can do if they play for other college teams, especially those not so talent laden teams.

If UP is recruiting marque collegiate players for the purpose of augmenting its roster while preventing the other teams from augmenting their respective rosters then UP is becoming like the SMB or Ginebra team. And its not really good for player development. Look at UP's current pool, subrang lalim na ng pool of talent. Some players could not get the playing time & the oprtunity to show their skills & capabilities. Something which these players can do if they play for other college teams, especially those not so talent laden teams.

No one batted an eye in the PEx forums in 2001 when Xavier legend Joseph Yeo languished on the bench during his rookie season behind Ritualo, Manalo, and Cardona. No one batted an eye when JC Intal, a 6’5” wing partly responsible for Letran HS’ last championshio before the Allen Ricardo era, came to Ateneo to be a third stringer despite his obvious size mismatch, in 2002. Of course Yeo and Intal were raw then and had to wait their turn. Then years after that, Ateneo and La Salle continued to recruit, even at their positions.

Likewise people like Gagate are raw and could wait their turn. Why UP is singled out for this while other players also wait their turn in other teams even in Team B is beyond me. Might be a recency bias with Carl Tamayo creating expectations for players right off the bat. Not everyone’s hinog coming in. What happened to maximizing playing years and waiting turns?

By what metrics can we even quantify this proposed “recruitment cap”? Who gets to be the judge?

Not likely. Probably just some interest being shown. Kinda like with Edu who had tryouts but nothing more. Heard he didn’t make the evaluation btw.

UP is focused on a different recruiting route, if rumors are to be belived. One last salvo ahead of the season if things break right.

As of the moment, I don't see dlsu overrecruting in terms of super blue chip recruits. I think most of the players they've recruited are more of hustle or role players or rough diamonds. The difference of DLSU I think last season is they believe that they can develop players, which is good. Escandor, Austria and David made major contributions in their championship run last season.

Yes they have Cortez and Baclaan but they're for next season and understandable since David I think will be in his last season (?). Gaspay and Ogana are in the team since last year.

I think their only blue chip recruits for next season (as of the moment) are Henry, Rubico and Dungo. Alian has been with the team since last season. Not sure if they still have Jucom.

Compared to the other UAAP schools, I think they're not catching the big fish yet for this upcoming season.

DLSU still has Perez and Buenaventura coming in. Nacua is also there too. Not to mention nepo babies Zamora and Romero. DLSU may not have all the blue chips but they are probably 25-deep in Team A tier players

I think maximizing playing years should be for those who aren't really projected to be PBA stars. For those with high upside (Gilas potential or maybe overseas), we need them developed and unloaded as quickly as possible, maximizing playing years should only be for those who haven't developed their skills by year 2 or year 3. That's why I'm concerned about our recruitment system.

Honestly, I've been hoping Quiambao goes pro as well. He's too good to stay in the UAAP. Hahahahahaha.
