    Buensalida, Alian, Gaspay, Marasigan

Did I miss anyone? Who will leave after this season besides KQ? Need to make space for Jacob, Pablo and Kean.
KQ might stay for one more year after 87 probably because of Kean.

Lost in this conversation is how many graduating students UP has this season. Which is only Cagulangan. Basically things only get more crowded next season.

Plus there is a reason why Pablo transferred to DLSU despite a larger pool. Its not a pure numbers game. Its about rotation spots, who you are up against and how long you have to wait. Money aside obviously

Spencer moved on after four, and Zav, Ricci, and Cansino exhausted their eligibility. Others like Lina, RC Calimag, and Pablo transferred.

For me, recruiting blue-chippers at the rate UP and La Salle do is OK only if the FIBA-eligible blue-chippers develop at a good rate, meaning they get called up to at least the training pool, or they're good enough to go pro early, whether the PBA or abroad. Kaso mo, ayun nga. In college ball, we don't have a tradition of letting players go pro early.

Teams have to figure out how to develop while winning.
That's the key...how to develop while winning...it's hard when you're too loaded.

When last season started, I mentioned that UP's problem will be how to keep the players sharp/focused when they were routinely blowing out teams. Because of being so stacked, Gold was spreading out the playing time too thin to too many players. Starting five wasn't necessarily the best five...that's the sign of coaches appeasing egos. It's hard to build chemistry and peak at the right moment doing that. UAAP season being so short is also a detriment, if the season was much longer being so stacked would be advantageous.

And now, despite how last season transpired, they're doubling down and getting even more stacked.

Another factor is not winning chips. It's easier for a player to leave early on a winning note, especially if you're instrumental in winning a chip. If UP won last season, I think Lopez, Cagu and maybe Alarcon moves on.

That's what most people miss when the hoard word gets thrown...it's important to make a distinction in what positions are loaded. The country will never run out of guards...but elite bigs and elite tall wings have limited supply and will always be needed by all teams.

That's brutal, atleast he'll still keep his full 5 years of eligibility even when comes back. Hope he uses this time improve his outside shooting, especially now that his athleticism should be greatly affected.

He needs to shift to the business/coaching side of basketball.

if femi and eventually acido commits to ateneo, are they considered final four contenders?

Acido considering Ateneo? I think Ateneo is still a final four contender sir. But if they want to go all the way, they need to secure a quality big man.

                            • Well that basically ends their basketball career before it even started.

Maybe. Losing ballungay will hurt them big. He could have formed a solid partnership with bahay running the point. For me up and dlsu are still your finals contenders. While nu, adamson and ust possibly gutting it out for the final 4. FEU with its revamp could shock a couple more teams. Right now, i'm placing ateneo at 5th-6th at best. Team is gonna be very young, mosty composed of rookies and sophomores with only koon, quitevis, lazaro and espinosa returning from its last championship team.
