Maybe we can include Ludovice, Alas, and Daja for this tournament. Hope CJ Amos can turn things around so we can include them too.

I think we can use him for this tournament. He's most likely only 17 by the end of the year. In Naveen's Rappler article, he mentioned Tumaneng as a 16 year-old.

Are the previous U16s overaged for this?

All of them but Andy Gemao and Jayden Jones are overaged for this tournament.

What is the cutoff for this tournament?

Still 18 or younger as of now are Bahay, Harris, Bayla, Konov, Gemao, Competente, Gamber, Nieto, Jones.

Cutoff's 18 or younger by January 1, 2024 (meaning January 1, 2006). All guys in that group but Gemao and Jones turn 18 in 2023.

If it's 18 or younger by January 1, 2024 Bayla, Harris, Konov and that batch won't age out (They're 17 or just turned 18 now). Maybe you mean younger than 18?

I think those guys only met the cutoff last time because they made it a u17 instead of u16 in light of the pandemic. So now its back to regular programming, their overage for u18. Maybe we will see some of those who got cut last time but still meet the cutoff?

Gemao turns 18 yrs old on June 26, 2024, right?
So he's eligible for next year's FIBA Asia U-18 tournament.

Harris, Konov & Bayla, on the other hand are overaged for that tournament.

Meaning anyone whose birthdate is January 1, 2006 or later is eligible.

But anyone whose birthdate is earlier than January 1, 2006, he's already overaged.

Para hindi na complicated, let's simplify it nalang:

Those players who will turn 18 years old this year are already overaged for next year's FIBA Asia U-18 tournament.

So for instance if one's birthday is December 31, 2005, overaged na sya.

Yes, got it. Too bad, most of them are still 18 on Jan 2024.

There's a very good book "Outliers" that has a theory about how birthdates affect chances of becoming an elite athlete.

                              Correct.
that's becoz last year's Asian U-16 tournament was supposed to be held in 2021, but was postponed to 2022 becoz of pandemic. Syempre those players that are supposed to be 16 yrs old in 2021 had turned 17 yrs old by 2022.

That's why last year's Asian U-16 tournament was actually Asian U-17 tournament.
