Only Dash Daniels, Ajak Nyuon, Mading Kuany are the retained players from their U17 WC. Interesting lineup. They don't need the 7'3 Rocco Zikarsky I guess.

      • So who are in the philippine u18 roster? Are the seyer coaches and their allies still working in mysterious ways to include their favorite worthless tiny players? Other countries have fixed their lneups already.

If we put our 6-foot-5/6-foot-6 guy on him, that Pinoy 6-6 guy is a natural big man so he may not have the laterals & quickness to stay in front of Mousa. On the other hand, if we put our natural wingmen on Mousa, our wingmen would be giving up 3 to 4 inches in height against Mousa. It would have been better if we had some athletic 6-4 Fil-am wingmen on the team.
I think Lebron James Daep could still play in the U-18 team. This kid is a 6'6-6'7 Power Forward but could play wing. Very Mobile big with decent handles, I think he'll turn 18 in May next year. Another player in mind is Letran's 6'5 forward, George Diamante Jr. I just don't know his exact age (you may correct me with his age eligibility) but like Nieto, this guy can move like a small forward, has decent handles enough to go coast to coast. What we need are 6'9 and above bigs that are good enough to go toe to toe against Asian bigs. Another one in mind is fifteen-year-old, 6'5 forward Fil-Am Jordan Mize, but I think this guy needs to work on his passport and eligibility soon.

For some unknown reasons, Daep & another Perpetual big man 6-7 Aries Borja aren't in the U-18 team/pool. I just hope their absence won't haunt the team. I hope coach Josh Reyes' emphasis on cohesion/chemistry over composition wud prove to be a wise decision.

The team further depleted with Kiefer Alas (a go-to-guy wingman) not expected to suit up in the Asian U-18 tourney next month becoz of injury.

The coach seems to put so much emphasis on cohesion/chemistry while composition is being taken for granted. Don't get me wrong, cohesion/chemistry is very very important, but if there's the opportunity to improve the composition of the team, especially improving the size/height of the team, then it should be given utmost consideration. Kahit maganda cohesion/chemistry ng team but It lacks the right materials (talent & size in particular), the team can only go so far.

Cohesion and chemistry will be of no use against Europeans. We need size over there.

Exactly. Composition matters as much as chemistry. I think it matters a bit more, actually. You don't have the talent, you can't win.

                  • Looking at the player's IG stories, unfortunately, there are no changes on the lineup. The SEABA lineup will much likely the FIBA Asia lineup. Even Justin Hunter is still on the team.

they need to expose the young bigs as well, me thinks. if Charles werent signed up by Converge, he would have been a very nice youth team coach

Thailand can maintain an intact line up for 10 years while team USA made up of NBA superstars can form a team in 10 days. When pitted against each other, USA will massacre Thailand a hundred times in a hundred games.

Cohesion/chemistry is important but its not a be all & end all thing.

                        • I haven't had the chance to keep up with this team.

Aside from the Perpetual boys who can't join (because of their school) and Filam boys who has various reasons why they can't...who are the obviously superior players that should be on this team but aren't?

None. Aside from Andy, there is no player that seems to be transitioning from youth to seniors.

I was going to mention him but then I remember he needs to play the PG position in Seniors, which is loaded already.
